Raytracing is actually the future of 3d rendering because it allows for things like reflections and lighting to just come naturally, which also means realistic shadows. It also saves time for devs because they don't need to manually code those three elements like games in the past did.

It's just that currently the technology is still at an experimental stage and is unoptimized hence why it significantly tanks the performance and requires a lot of resources from hardware

But 5-7 years from now it will be everywhere (at least in aa and AAA class games, obviously it's not needed in indie projects or pixel art)

But UE5 lighting system is raytracing, is just that it uses new software technology
IMO, the reason why it feels like a pipedream is because it is raytracing + ultra hd/high fidelity graphics.

Raytracing is technically something that if it would become the norm would reduce costs of development from video games, since a lot of dev time, specially on AAA games is devoted to lighting, just look at FF7R, that to achieve the way it look they have a full area devoted only to do that.

This is only an absolute great announcement, when the game has Rollback. If it doesn't I will just sit in a corner and cry all day.

Guys I'm pretty sure I've seen the best looking Knuckles ever in that Sonic 2 movie trailer. Like... he's perfect. Proportions, the model, the voice, and he kicked Sonic's ass in the teaser scene

Is it weird or sad to anybody else that it took a global pandemic and mass lockdowns thus rendering offline tournaments basically impossible for almost two years for JP FG devs to even consider actually stepping into the 21st century in terms of netplay in their projects

real shit - Axl and I-no actually being lovers from different timelines was a mindblowing but also heartbreaking twist of events. I'm glad that my suspicions about this being the case back in Rev2 story weren't false.

Slayer coming last establishes and completes the male female male pattern at least. Also having 2 new and 3 vets in a season is a good balance for a fighting game season pass

Nah I’m done buying DLC without 100% confirmation of what I’m getting. Nothing against Arc Sys but I’ve been burned on that too many times. They may have had a chance on me buying the pass if I knew Baiken was in off the jump.

Capcom better invest into their internal teams with the next game
