    It's naive to say that.

Considering a lot of modern hacks are primarly made for consoles.

As most console games have 0 protection against hacker and cheater, running there wild is ridicoulisly easy, especially with modern Consoles.

Like I said I've never seen a single cheater on console. When I played counterstrike on PC there were tons of hackers. It's definitely more of a problem in FPS games but they still pop up in fighters once in awhile.

I'd like to see Capcom/ASW just flat out banning people and that would hopefully scare away anyone from trying it.

    This is nothing new lol.

I meat multiple people in SFIV who played Toolassisted and it was obvious to tell from the Replays.

This also happend on PS4 btw.

There will always be these douchbags who have to ruin everyone elses fun.

It's a lot less likely to happen on console. In fact in all the years I've been playing fighting games, I've never once encountered a cheater.

The extremely streamlined list of my problems with Strive:

    1. I feel like I can’t do anything cool without 50 tension or a character specific meter telling me to fuck off

    2. Converting off far attacks feels bad unless I’m closer than I want to be or have meter (see above).

    3. Lack of interesting projectiles

Im paraphrasing pretty hard because I’m at work, but this is the meat of what I don’t like about this game.

I know the ship has probably sailed - but I think you would like GBVS. The game is all about converting off far pokes into big damage and AA's can potentially do 50%.  There's projectile heavy zoners.  Also, once you hit the corner the combos can get kind of crazy.

If you want a steady group of people to talk KOF and other SNK titles like SamSho or Metal Slug, you better be fluent in Arabic/Spanish/Portuguese or an east Asian language. KOF has never hit it big in the west.

It's unfortunate that KOF had been overshadowed by SF in the west. Although they share some similarities they really don't play the same at all. The 3vs3 plus the way the neutral works with running, hop and hyper hop KOF is something truly unique and special. I'm hoping XV makes a splash this time similar to Strive.

To me pointless isn’t really meant to be unviable so much as it’s “there is someone else who does everything this character is good at but better”.

Lucia isn’t unplayable or anything but she has nothing that would make me pick her over Karin or Sakura. Nash is way better than he used to be but if I was trying to win I still wouldn’t pick him over Guile. But then again you can say that about a lot of characters that aren’t in that tier.

Also I’ve been itching to get back into FGs but aren’t any specific games I’m dying to play. Might get back into MK11 for a bit.

That's true but a lot of FG's have similar characters playing the same way with one inevitably being weaker.  That's just the way a lot of fighting games work unfortunately.  It's hard to make a game with 40+ truly unique characters.  At the end of the day, why not just put them in the tier list somewhere?  I think it's a disservice especially when Gief and Necalli are stronger than half the cast.  I understand there are better picks for those character archetypes - but I would have liked to have seen Punk's placement of them nonetheless.

Sounds like a wish list to me. Square Enix is supposed to be working on an FFIX remake, KH4, FF Tactics, remasters of FF Tactics and Chrono Cross, while simultaneously working on FFXVI and the next chapters of the FFVII remake? Unless they have a hyperbolic time chamber in their offices, I find that hard to believe.

Probably bullshit but how good does that list sound...

I don't know if people are still paying attention to SFV, or just waiting desperately for Luke to save the game, but I feel like Akira players are getting her V-trigger choice all wrong.

With Daigo, 99% of the time you either get one good chunk of damage off a hit confirm, or one really tepid mix-up if you activate on block.

With VT2, you're still getting that damage on hit confirm, but now you're also juicing up a big chunk of your subsequent gameplay with safe (or even plus) hit confirms into solid damage off of almost every normal, and a bonus tool for anti-fireball/far anti-air.

I think people keep using VT1 like they expect it to be Seth's orb, and it really isn't anywhere near as good.

Yeah,  VT2 is really under explored.  It was written off in favour of VT1 way too quickly.  VT1 is more of a one and done and the damage often isn't that much unless you have the opponent cornered.  I don't think people are factoring in the utility of having consistent safe pressure after activation with VT2.

But what are the chances of you ever getting to play people like Daigo, Punk, Wong etc? Most players will never get to play those players because the community is so large and the top players don't generally mix with the hoi polloi on a regular basis. And I imagine it would increase the skill level of the base as a whole if they had access to players of that caliber but most of them never will.

I mean, I've fought Punk, Idom, Shine, etc and I'm nowhere near as good as them.   Anyone can get to diamond if they put in the time and effort.  If you're arguing for everyone to have access to these players my question is......do you really want that?  Newer players will get stomped and it will likely be a waste of time for both parties.  It's best to fight people around your skill level so you can gradually level up.

Would you rather have a game community that has larger numbers but more varying degrees of skill and the potential that you'd never be able to play the top players or a smaller community where moat of the layers who play are very serious and you could potentially play the top dogs?

Personally I'd rather the latter. I think large communities are a bit overrated and being in that playing good players is key to leveling up, having access to the best players the game has to offer seems like it would make getting good easier. What do you think?

I'd rather have a large community and the ability to play the top dogs. That's currently how SFV works assuming you're able to climb the ranks. I've fought a lot of the best players in North America just by making diamond and turning on ranked mode.

Updated the same time you posted lol… I didn’t know they used Amazon servers though (not that I know what that means)

I was just able to log in so maybe they fixed the issue.  I'm also confused about the Amazon thing....

Edit... just got logged out again and nobody else seems to be online.  They're having real problems.

Trying to make myself play some ranked even though it makes me anxious, and just fought an Akira who did the heavy rush punch at 99 seconds round start every single time. Every. Single. Time.

I do that with Karin's shoulder from time to time because it catches the opponent off guard and it's safe even if blocked. Akira's elbow is -4 though so that seems like a bad gamble to take. Might as well just go for a jump in.

  12. After messing around with Akira she kind of seems like a cross between Lucia and Sakura.  People are comparing her to Karin but I don't really see it as much.  She's got Lucia's stubby buttons and mixup potential and Sakura's walkspeed and cr.mk.  To me she seems more of a rushdown than a footsie character?  Her st.roundhouse is about the only button with range.

Oro is a weird character.  He doesn't seem like he's doing anything and yet he somehow erases life bars.  His buttons are REALLY good and he does a lot of damage plus has great vtriggers.  He might be difficult to play but imo he's looking like he has potential.

I don't have a prescription for Adderall, but my wife does and I've taken it when we went to Japan and our sleep was all fucked up, and once or twice to quickly knock out big tasks I didn't want to do but needed to. I can absolutely see how it would give a player who's taking it a leg up, and I think it's a discussion worth having. If major sports leagues are banning it, I don't see why that should be a controversial thing for eSports as well. The McGwire/Sosa homerun contest is somewhat tainted by the fact that they were on gear while it was happening.

I tend to agree with you especially since other sports leagues have banned it for a reason.   Its been known to increase focus and probably reaction time as well.    The whole prescription thing can be easily overcome if the person wants it enough.  I know in the UFC many fighters were getting prescriptions for TRT and it wasn't hard for them at all to do so until it was banned.
