I'm a little more worried it's the beginning of the end for the FGC as we knew it.
EVO's gonna turn into the FG equivalent of the Video Game Awards where it's all corporate cringe and circle jerking.
I've seen all manner of other majors rise and fall - remember when Canada Cup was the one to watch? - but EVO was our rock. Until arguably Covid there was never a truly bad EVO. It was always always the one tourney you wouldn't miss.
I'm afraid we just sold our soul.
I'm going to reserve judgement until I've seen the tournament. I can handle a bit of esports but I still would like some of that grassroots feel that EVO has always been about. If it turns into another cringefest like E-League, I'm out.

On the upside someone got into the code and it's possible Amakusa night be the 3rd dlc character this season so I'd be hype for that.
The other character is supposed to be Baiken. I'm not one for guest characters but if they're going to do one, she seems like a good choice.

Honestly, the trailers are too short to really get a feel for the characters.
That's true, they're only slightly better than the DBFZ trailers.
That said, the Meitenkun, Iori, Kyo and Chizuru are the standouts for me.

Just not impressed with KOF (graphically) being its on PS5, nor do I see any new innovative mechanics. That said, I'm still buying, haven't disliked a KOF in a long time, doubt I'll start now
I'm in the same boat. It's a day one purchase for me especially now that they basically confirmed rollback netcode. Just wish they made some bold decisions with the game. Some characters look and play way too much like their XIV predecessor.
-
Man I don't know what to think about KOF XV. The trailers seem all over the place. I feel like certain characters look and animate much better than others. There's definitely a lack of consistency but I suppose that's to be expected with a game that will probably include 50+ characters.

My awesome wife just gave me a PS5 for an early b-day present. This is awesome, but now I have no idea what to play on it... Anyone know of any good PS5 games?
also, Tubb, I think this should still run SOR4 alright tomorrow. If not, I’ll hook the PS4 up. I downloaded it last night.
That's awesome!

What the...
Either ArcSys is betting there isn't a lot of overlap between playerbases, or they're being hella disrespectful. They deadass dropping Strive on the exact same day as one of Square Enix flagship titles and one of Sony's latest flagship titles? This makes absolutely no sense, they're gonna get overshadowed to hell and back, someone get me their marketing team's email, I gotta let em know they're fucking out of their mind man...
Yeah definitely some overlap. A LOT of people play FF7 remake. If I were ArcSys I wouldn't want to be competing with SE on this.
-
Max and I have the same problem. I was fine with the game getting delayed but the new release date is now the same as FF7 Remake Yuffie episode. Now I'll have no idea what to play.
And how much you wanna bet Capcom releases Oro shortly after/on the same date. I can guarantee they pull some shit like that.

Tbh, this is purely made up BS, but I feel like more people watching streams are on PC... I don’t know why.
and no, I’m happy with console. It suits me better.
Basing conclusions on a stream chat vote means nothing. Jiyuna said himself he plays mostly on console lol.
Cipher should be channeling his energy into getting crossplay, not worrying about platform wars.

I’ve noticed this trend where people hate fighting anything that isn’t generic rushdown and it’s really fucking annoying because devs are catering to these people by weakening other styles
When was the last time we saw a truly top tier grappler or zoner?
I agree with you. I've never minded fighting Abigail in SFV or Sim, Poison, Guile, Menat but I find people are constantly complaining about them.
Also, zoners and grapplers are really fun to watch in tournament play especially when they go up against one another.

You had me agreeing in the first half... What's wrong with menus? I don't need to see low tier warriors showing off their shallow personality with their shitty and quirky avatars...
Why do I have to walk in game to play the game?? I'm playing the game so I don't have to exercise! Clearly ASW doesn't know their fats- I mean mean fans.
Menu's would be the safe route, I have no problem with that either. I think the avatar / arcade system is fun, it adds a bit of personality to the game. It seemed to be what arcsys was trying to go for with the Strive lobbies. I just don't understand why they felt the need to overhaul the old system and make it worse.....

The Strive delay made me forget we had a character reveal for KOF tonight
Thank good he doesn’t have that Android 18 forehead anymore.
Wow Andy looks so much better than XIV. I think it's the most improved character model so far.

Guess I have to secure a PS5 by June 10th.

I asked Nemo during his stream whether he was going to play Strive and he said no because of Potemkin 🤣

The KOF15 rollback stuff is interesting. Not that I'm super invested in KOF but broadly any rollback attempt is better than them not trying at all. With some effort they should be able to get something solid out the door, even if it isn't Strive level or anything. The way I would interpret "internal" is "we don't want to spend money to hire anyone to do this so we're going to figure this out." Considering that a variety of indie FGs have been able to implement working rollback hopefully the KOF team can figure it out.
Hell even if it releases in a jank state at least the groundwork is out there and you can refine it. The biggest issue with SFV's netcode hasn't been the jank with it, it has been that they have never really sat down and re-addressed it.
That's my take on it too. Didn't Fighting EX layer with it's non-existent budget manage to implement decent rollback? Them's Fighting Herds did it as well. SNK probably should be able to pull it off if these indie fighting games are doing it.

Not sure. Last I heard he had some stress related health problems after starting his business. Hope he's doing well.

@SkortJuri is finally at the top of the tier list in SFV.
......for V-Shift.
Nemo tested and apparently she's tied for best V shift in the game.

No one is saying Alex is ass in Season V. If they are they downplaying or smoking crack.
I'm talking about past seasons not this one which we know very little about. Alex to me was never that bad. He is inconsistent but most grapplers are built to be that way.

This made me chuckle. Aris talking how Evo will no longer be "grassroots".
