Obviously. Unfortunately, I don't think that the vast majority of the general public was able to understand what was actually happening. Justin, Maximilian and even Matsuda's chats were... Well they were filled with people like me (except they have no experience in the game). I wonder if I should make a video breaking down some matches. Ultimately I think it'd be a fruitless labor, but a fun one nonetheless.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I was watching in Justin's stream and eventually fell asleep since it went on so late.  I would watch a video breakdown.  Even though I'm not a 3rd strike player I enjoy watching the game and would like to learn more about it.

Some of the changes in would like to see are the following ( ofc not all at the same time but some would be nice at least )

    - starts the round with all 3 stores

I honestly think this is by far the most important change.  Juri players usually start the round backpedaling to the corner because they have to store.  If she started the round with full stores she could initiate the offense, get a life lead and then play her zoning/hit and run game.   I think this would make a world of difference.

Why Capcom thinks it's okay for her to start the match with no stores is beyond me.  Ibuki doesn't start the match with zero Kunai.  It makes no sense.

I don't want  to be negative but the art style for the new KOF still feels kinda off to me the same way KOF 14 felt. Should stick to the old format or try something similar to what ArcSys did maybe .  I don't feel that they transitioned to well into the 3D part. Character models feel off, shading is all over the place ( yes i know its WIP but still )  and just looks kinda bland.  I do hope it ends up being a good title though.

The graphics to me look like a slightly updated version of Samsho.  I was generally happy with how that game looked so I can't complain about XV.

In a sense I do agree with you though.  It would have been kind of nice if they took a chance on something that looked drastically different from the norm.

I would have been much more hyped if these characters were teased for sf6. I mean I'll still check it out but I'm not waiting anxiously to see what else they add to the game. Even the new game mechanic is meh.

I understand covid and issues developing the new game but I'd rather them use all this time and energy getting the next game ready.

This is kinda where I'm at.  I was hyped for S5 when I thought we were getting a summer character dump...but then they went on to tell us to wait for a year and a half.   At this point, we all just want to see SF6.  Even Tokido said it recently in an interview with Harada.

Oh well, I'm hype for the KOF 15 reveal tomorrow.

  5. What do you guys think about Guilty Gear Strive not having a ranked mode?  I was thinking about this and it's a pretty drastic change from what we're used to.  Every fighting game I can think of had some sort of rank mode since like SF4.  It looks like Strive is going to have this tower instead where you move up a floor as you get better.  Not sure how I feel about this as I do enjoy rank modes but there are definitely pros and cons.

Nah @Psychoblueis the dude you should look to for motivation. He's in the fitness thread. The man puts in work. I'm trying to be like him on the real.

Edit: Not sharing my bro's face without permission but his forearms are the size of my biceps.

I work out all the time but I think your brother's arms are 3X the size of mine 🤣

@VhoziteI'm in the same boat. I haven't played any fighting games in a while I went from playing SFV, SC6, and MK11 with you guys to playing CP2077 and a few other games on the side. Not going to lie, if the balance patch had dropped this month I'd be all over SFV now.

We're definitely in a fighting game drought waiting for the SFV update plus all the new next gen fighting games on the horizon.  I've been playing old games.  Just started a Parasite Eve playthrough and will probably play Vagrant Story next.  Despite playing nearly every Square game as a kid, I missed out on these two.

Hmm. It sounds like my style due to zoning. What you do mean by setplay? I never heard of that term.

Setplay is just a preplanned sequence that puts the opponent in a mixup situation.  Gill has a lot of them in VT2 - he sets up an ice puddle and the opponent is forced to guess their way out or be frozen.

Winter 2020 usually refers to the winter starting in 2020, so everything makes sense.

Nobody refers to January/February of 2021 as 'Winter 2021'.

Why not just put 'winter' then instead of winter 2020?  Then people wouldn't have got their hopes up about a December release.  Their wording was bound to confuse people.

Just forget including 2020 at all if this was their original plan in the first place.

There are some fucking weird choices. Karin makes twins redundant in SFV since she shares so many moves... but her playstyle and gameplan is entirely different?? Same for Seth and Makoto. Just weird insanity that feels like Capcom spitting in our faces (typical Capcom fan mentality), but they're just innocently paying homage to their old fighters. We stay salty though.

A lot of SFIV Yang players (including myself) switched to Karin in V because they share "rekkas" and a cancellable cr.mk.  Karin in Alpha 3 also had a command grab.  The funny thing is though that they play NOTHING alike.  Karin plays more like Elena or Chun did in 4.  There aren't any characters in 5 that come close to how the Twins played.  With all the 'rules' in V I don't know how the Twins, Viper or Fei Long ever get into the game and at this point I don't want to see it.

So in between now and Dan’s release in February:

      1)  Sephiroth will be officially released for Smash this weekend. You can also earn him starting today.

     2) The leaked Fighterz character will have their trailer shown this weekend and be made playable sometime in January.

    3) The Anji trailer for GG Strive will be shown on the New Years. Possible hint to the final character on the base roster.

    4) After what felt like years, KOF 15 will have been shown off on January 7th.

    5) On the same day, SamSho will reveal season 3. One of them being a Last Blade character.

Good time to be a fan of one of those.

Capcom was like how can we upstage these rival games?  Let's delay Dan's release until after all these announcements!

Most are just waiting for the patch notes not Dan.

The roster has plenty of characters.I would argue that the Season 5 wasn't even needed when it comes to extra characters.

It's this boring meta that has been going for too long that needs changing.

But this late in this game's life who cares really.

If I were a Rose main and she gets added autumn 2021 with SF 6 most likely 2022 I would be pissed off tbh.

Yeah, I'm wondering if this last season was really even necessary.  I guess depends on when SF6 releases.  If it releases early 2022 that's not enough time to even master these season 5 characters (unless you're a god).   And it kind of sucks for Rose players that probably wanted her in SF6.

We all know you're too scurred to play anyway.

Looking forward to RE8. RE7 was very, very good.

Also, isn't Dan supposed to drop like this week or something? I thought he was supposed to drop in December, right?

Winter 2020 can technically only be from Dec 21st - 31st.  So he should be dropping sometime in that 11 day period.  This is Capcom though, and that date could easily change.

I'm not really excited about Dan I just want to see the new battle mechanic and rebalance.

It was the wiegraf fight that you got stuck on, wasn't it lol? Unless you don't remember at this point

That fight is brutal.  And if my memory is correct the game prompts you to save before the battle - so unless you have a backup save file there's no way of going back and leveling up.

Tbh, I was a very impatient kid... I was like Bam Bam from the flintstones, instead of doing a spell that did 6 attack points and then have to sit there for the enemy to attack me their amount of x points, i’d rather play a TMNT game and smash the Foot with Mikey’s skateboard.

I’d be okay with slower games now if the game was compelling and strategic, tbh, I’d prefer that over mindless button mashing.

is there any FF game you would recommend a noob to start with? Keeping in mind I only have a PS4, a switch, and a 11 year old laptop that is showing its age.

I'd also recommend FF Tactics. It's probably the only old game I'd recommend to someone who never played FF games.  As much as I loved the old school turn based FF's - they really didn't age well in my opinion.  Tactics is more of a strategy game and the battles are very fun and don't feel like a chore.  The story is pretty engaging as well.  It's a great game.

FF7R is great too, and plays more like an action game than an old school RPG.  I'd recommend both!
