Laura got no nerfs only buffs. Kolin got bodied. Poison got Karin'd. She still seems the same things but got some damage nerfs biggest nerf was Heart Raid being +1 on block now.
They seem to think that the V shift is going to benefit zoners so they nailed them with nerfs to compensate. Poison got hit way too hard compared to other characters. She wasn't even top 5.

They actually buffed Alex's lariat again.

Ever play SF Alpha 1 or like literally anything in the Darkstalkers or Marvel franchises? The magic series, the hunter series, etc?
I played Alpha 3. The chain combos are similar - plus there's air blocking. Probably the most anime SF.

I-No won't be in the initial roster. Get that shit out of here.
Sorry had to repost this.....
BTW, every time I try to play an anime fighter I sit there in training mode unable to do a basic combo because I'm used to links. Then everything clicks once I realize I just need to press buttons like a madman.

At least they're talking about the game. They literally acted like Tekken 7 never existed.

Ah the original one with Stallone where he actually takes off his helmet. Do you like The Raid? If so, do yourself a favor and watch Dredd. Way better movie.
Yeah I assumed it was the remake of Dredd that came out in 2012. Absolutely loved that movie - one of the few I've watched multiple times.

Like Volt said, activating V-shift uses an entire bar. If you shift through a projectile or physical attack, it goes into slow-mo and you get refunded half a bar. Throws don't refund. So that's why I was saying the best way to bait a V-shift might be to look like you're going for a set-up or meaty and then do nothing. Boom, your opponent just blew a V bar for a glorified backdash. If you got super big brain you can forward dash right away and apply pressure during the V-shift recovery.
Since regular frame traps become weaker I think staggered buttons will become extremely important to apply pressure. Like Karin's cr.strong micro step cr. strong.

Missed the stream so thanks @EvilCanadianfor the video analysis!
Wow, this winter update was much better than the summer update. Can't believe I'm saying this but Dan actually looks kind of cool. He has some technical stuff going on and unlike SFIV he's not just build around Dan kicks.
Rose's character model looks terrible but it's in a work in progress so I'm sure she'll look fine on release. Her gameplay looks sick though, tarot cards, air fireball, exploding orbs. She basically has Yang's Seiei Enbu in Soul Illusion. Looking forward to trying her out.
The new defensive mechanic could potentially change the entire meta game and now people can stop complaining about SFV having no defense options. This combined with the balance patch could really shake things up.
Capcom actually managed to shatter all expectations for once.

HiFight has an interesting video up. Wonder how man of these guess he'll get right.
Hope they don't nerf Poison. She's a cool character that is unique and adds a nice flavour to the usual stuff we see. Her overhead being -4 doesn't bother me - she has to spend meter and it is still punishable.
Seth and Rashid could definitely use a few nerfs and Bison as well for just be annoying as hell to fight. Other than that I hope they keep the nerfs to a minimum and focusing on buffing for the low and mid tiers.

GBVS netcode works well for me when I stay in my coast. I generally have no issues when I stay in the New York server. When other people who ain't regional show up I start to have problems. When the frame delay goes above 5 my experience begins to dip.
Last time I played the servers were dead in Canada, so I had to play in the New York server. Problem was the connections to New York aren't good, whereas in SFV I can play New Yorkers just fine. I mean I don't see how anyone can defend delay based netcode . It's okay when you get someone close by but as soon as a games population begins to dwindle it becomes frustrating trying to find good quality games.

It was quite a good ultra, used both offensive and defensive.
Her insane backdash was the icing on the cake though, paired with an insane grab range as well.
Yeah I remember some anti-backdash option selects didn't even work on her. She was like the character for all the Chun mains since Chun was so mediocre in IV. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Chun's switch over to her in V.
Also, I bet Capcom is going to churn out a billion Rose costumes lol.

I wonder if soul satellite will be v-skill or v-trigger.
Maybe summon one orb as a v-skill.
Soul satellite was one of the reasons I hated fighting Rose in IV. It was like the precursor to V-triggers.
That said, I feel like they'll do something different with her triggers to differentiate from Menat.

Do y'all think that a fighting game needs to have locals to be successful?
Or at least in person majors?
I've seen the argument that GBFV crashed so hard in the USA because it dropped weeks before COVID shut the country down.
But it also has butt netcode. Would of it of faired better if the netcode was good? OR is it doomed no matter what without in person events, especially ones like CB, CEO, EVO etc...
Anime fighters are fighting an uphill battle from the start in the US. Throw in delay net code and covid and it's GG's. It's a shame because GBVS is actually very fun and it's the first anime game that I really got into for a while. It definitely feels like a nice blend of Street Fighter and Guilty Gear.
Strive is doing things right with rollback but the spring release isn't ideal. Jiyuna actually said he wants the game delayed to the fall when hopefully locals/tournaments will be back.

I wish Samsho got rollback netcode. I'd definitely come back to it.
It would be a travesty if KOF XV doesn't have it.

Why does every Ken player play like a nut? Full screen tatsu's, neutral jump shoryuken, blocked st.hk shoryuken, run throw, run vskill, meterless dp on wakeup.
Bruh, I thought I was done with mashed shoryuken's during blockstrings with SF4.

Not too disappointed given Capcom Cup was already going to be kind of whack this year. I'm wondering how they're going to do this online final though? Is it going to be like DBFZ where we just get a bunch of regional champions? Not sure how they're going to do this.

Alex is hard to place on a tier list because everyone says he's ass but he has the capability to absolutely roll you if he makes a couple good reads.
I've been playing SFV for the first time since the update and haven't seen a single person use Dan or do a V Shift 🤣
