I think this exactly proves that this whole thing is probably coming from an English speakers perspective since the term 'gender' for cases in language is completely arbitrary. I could call them "dinkydonks" and it would still serve the same purpose as gender cases.

Funny, in Spanish a spoon is femenine (cuchara), fork is male (tenedor), and knife is also male (cuchillo). Masculine nouns end in O, L , N, E, R and S.
 
There's been a minority that wants to make changes to the language, like changing TODOS (everybody) for TODES because some think it's discriminatory and not inclusive. The Royal Academy of Spanish clarified that TODOS , though grammatically masculine, is inclusive, and thus, no need for making changes. The RAE said inclusive language is unnecessary and alien to the morphology of the Spanish language. When asked how to refer to a non-binary person, the RAE suggested asking that person how he/she would like to be referred to as.
In Argentina, however, inclusive language has gotten a foothold, mainly with teenagers from what I understand, and they have been pushing hard for inclusive language. Many of their compatriots mock inclusive language. Argentina is... peculiar.
 
Anyway, governments of Argentina, Spain, Chile and Peru are studying a project to ban inclusive language since it deforms the language. Take the word "jóvenes" (youths). There's
los jóvenes (all the youths or male youths if referring to a specific group)
las jóvenes (the female youths)
 
The inclusive people are now calling female youths "jóvenas". It's a weird mix they are doing with nouns and changing letters, I don't like it.
 
I have seen American movies and TV shows where a girl calls a group of girls like "hey, you guys!" So... 🤷‍♂️
 
 
 

meh you can because times have changed. what was acceptable then isnt acceptable now. shit it gets you sued in alot of cases. so you gotta keep moving with the bareometer your fans set because they are the ones who are watching and supporting.

this is what alottttt of buisnesses are learning. social media basically wasnt a thing then, so most couldnt even voice their dismay on a large worldwide scene like you can now. its more or less like how vince mcmahon thought wearing a durag and saying the n word on events was funny. if he did that today his stock would fuckinggg plummet and wwe loves walking the line but you will never see them that kinda line ever again.
 
peacock network is taking all the questionable content from wwe history off the streaming platform. every company is doin this sorta thing. why are we pretending like this isnt normal behavior? are we expecting companies to stay the same the entire time while society changes? language changes and evolves. and what we accept and understand as proper and ok things also changes.

Similar situation with my in-laws. It's infuriating seeing these comments but most of these people have their mind made up before the conversation even begins, so why even bother trying to convince them anything. They're gone.

Damn, that's a bummer. He was a big part of my childhood. My brothers and I would come home from school and watch Full House every day.  The first one to laugh would get punched.
