I'm not saying it's bad, and I never said it isn't going to get better.  It's clearly better than SFV was at launch by a hundred nautical miles.

It isn't my take, so I can't really defend it.  Just some Twitter scuttlebut from some good players who maybe just got hit by shit they haven't figured out yet.  Zato is still a total mystery to me personally so I didn't want to rule it out.

They've promised 5 characters by the end of the year iirc, that should be enough to keep things fresh enough all the way through June 2022 I'd reckon.

I agree that adjustments and system tweaking are going to have to happen to satiate a short attentioned consumer base, but I really, really hope they don't go the route of just piling on system mechanic after system mechanic.

I didn't pick up SF5 until it was knee deep into it's 3rd year and I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that game has.

And the RC system seems to have a lot of gas in the tank as far as providing depth to the game, so I'm hoping that they don't have to add a bunch of system mechanics to keep people interested.

No word on that and for as robust as Arc has been making their training modes I don't know that they are super big on frame data accessibility. Hopefully with enough clamoring they'll get on board.

Solidarity brother. We're all out there figuring this shit out.

My road to 9 was paved with 4 sets against the same I-No, which was actually pretty fun and educational. Painful in places but educational. Haven't had the chance to hit up ranked since then but I'm sure I'll get bashed around next time I do.

I haven't played a may but I don't want to either seeing all the buzz around her lol.

Only got to play a couple matches ended up using pot because I picked him during trials. I was using chipp in training mode somehow didn't realize it was still set to pot then I actually won a few and kept playing him and looked up some stuff.  The aa command grab feels godlike when you land it.

I need to play in arcade mode or something to get used to actually using the mechanics and stuff, add on top of that I switched back to stick so i end up fumbling around a shit ton. Still fun to scrub my way to wins but it's gonna take me a while to get comfortable in the game.

I like hearing our stories about the trials and tribulations of ranked. Makes me feel connected to you guys, without the whole getting slapped around 20-0 by your Nagos and Rams.

So, I went online for the first time today.

First I got matched with an I-No on Floor 6, who I think was also her first time online because her character level was 1 like mine. I win the first game because the I-No looks inexperienced and I'm pushing big fucking buttons with my honest mid tier character Ramlethal. Then, after winning the first game, the game promotes me to Floor 7.

"Wait, I don't want to get promoted, I'm just spamming buttons here, I can't play this game!"

So, I have to go on Floor 7, and there I meet a Ky player who actually seems to have played a bunch. It's closer, but I manage to beat him 2-0 through.

"Wait, what the fuck you mean I got promoted to Floor 8!? I don't want to fight against actually good people, I don't know what I'm doing!"

So, I go to Floor 8 and meet a Nagoriyuki. I manage to win the first game but lose the other two because I have no idea of how to handle Nago's pressure and his big fucking buttons are as big as mine. Still, pretty happy I manage to get a game in while still getting adjusted to playing the game against actual people.

After that I get to play another Ky player on Floor 8 who's very aggressive and I lose the first game to and it demotes me, which is a shame because both rounds were close and I was adapting, and finish the day playing against a May who played really weird and a Millia on Floor 7 who I both beat 2-1.

By the way, Ramlethal is just Falke if Falke was strong. Same standing kick poke, same jumping poke with a medium, she just trades projectiles for an ever so slightly stronger corner game. Just a tiny little bit stronger corner game.

I gotta stop playing ranked when caffeinated.  I am a twitchy mess right now.

Clawed my way back up to floor 8 and got a Steam Achievement for spending $100K on fishing.  Feeling super accomplished.

I have noticed hating the mirror match slightly less in this game.

Running into a lot of good celestial players that that are better at dealing with May, but I’m still taking most games. Seems like every character has dirt! Played an Anji that was giving me a little trouble but dolphins prevailed in the end, 10-3

I know May is currently one of the best characters but she can’t be carrying me this much, not vs these guys. Must stream more!

You've gotten a lot more variety in than I have, though now that I'm at 9 I think things will slow down a lot for me and I should get more variety in. Give 'em hell!

For Nago, if you want to turbo-charge your match up knowledge look up Shahenzan on the SFV Lounge Megashock discord (I think he has a profile on here but he's more active on there). Playing long sets against his Nago has been extremely educational especially since he plays the character to a degree that I haven't run into among the randoms yet.

Plus he's a really solid player in general so he forces you to tighten up some things that you can get away with in this game for a long time without realizing it (fake jump ins, fake pressure, unsafe situations, predicable blockstrings).

I was getting rocked by Stroke so hard I pulled up Dustloop mid-match to check and make sure it wasn’t an overhead lmao. Turns out the connection wasn’t the best but even then I was having real trouble blocking it.

This was my same issue as well.

Akhos and I played a bunch and it was a coin flip as to if the matches would be solid or not. Not a distance issue really either, I'm in MD and so far as I ever figured he was in NY.

Matt and I used to play a bunch and the connections actually steadily just got worse over the games lifespan. It was weird to see. The last couple of times we played it was a teleport festival. Looked like Sagat borrowed Soul Illusion.

My sincere hope is that they get it right with SF6. For all of its woes SFV's online isn't so far off the mark that they need to start from scratch or anything. I think it was just never in the cards for them to really refine it post-launch (for as long as this game has been supported I feel like it's budget consists of whatever money the Monster Hunter team drops in the office lobby) so they had basically one chance to get it right.

That is sort of my experience with GG story as well. Though I will say what I've seen so far from Strive has been way better presented. It feels like an actual story mode whereas the Xrd story mode more felt like someone explaining an anime to me in long form, if that makes sense.
Sol, Gio, Axl, and weirdly high %s of Nago and Millia. I've expected more May's but I'm assuming they've just dolphined up higher than I've played in the towers so far.

Can you share this aura cause I've been teabagged twice. Once by Anji and once by a Chipp after a double KO . Wtf.

I remember Shahenzan's Ibuki from our 3s tourney. My body is not ready for his Nago. Or Vhozite's for that matter. I'll stick to the shittier Nagos and Mays on floor 7 or wherever I am now, thanks. 😅

I tried. I really did. Well as much as anyone can by creating a random thread on the internet.

But the power of SFV Lounge is too strong. I was a fool to challenge it.

I could not defeat Shen Long. I did not stand a chance.

For me, when SFV's online is good, it's good. When it's bad, it's really really bad.

But I'm someone who played SF4/MVC3 for many yrs and dealt with it. I'm battle hardened.

Capcom definitely improved things we then changed the distance of those you'll be matched with. That was both good and bad for me.

The Good: You are more likely to have solid connections simply because you're being connected to those more close to your area.

The Bad: The pool of players dropped considerably. Brazilian Ken's were a nightmare, but I enjoyed fighting many UK players. I also enjoyed fighting West Coast players as well. The connections weren't always bad, either.

Now depending on the time of the day, you could rarely be connected to someone on the WC. I remember running into Clegg and Comeback Kid a few times when I played in the morning and afternoon. I think it was because no one was really queued up online those days.

The tragic thing with SamSho is that it's almost an ideal game for rollback.  The comparatively smaller number of meaningful inputs means fewer rollbacks would even get triggered.
