    I mean there have only been three and Helen Slater got that godawful movie as her only chance to portray the character. So basically comes down whether you prefer her or Laura Vandervoort.

    Well, actually I never thought to compare the 2 recent tv Supergirls until now.... I kinda like Laura Vandervoort a little more...she's always been more serious and intimidating, at least from what I vaguely remember.  (she has had a career pattern of always playing something non-human, btw---she was also a werewolf in "Bitten", and one of the aliens in the remake tv series "V")

    In terms of pure hotness it's basically a coin-flip though; both girls are smokin hot, imo.  It's quite a shame what the CBS/CW Supergirl show turned into over the years.

    ...same for the CW network in general.  There hasn't been a reason for me to watch that network at all in a few years now.  All my favorite shows from there have ended at this point; Vampire, Originals, Supernatural, Smallville from early-era WB/CW, and The Flash even though that one went sharply downhill in quality after season 3 or so (and Arrow though I only watched that to check out Felicity and Those Legs)....I miss those good ol' days though, when CW had all that going on and I watched it regularly.

  2. BG3 Misadventures of Warlock Alastor...

    ...so I found some injured dwarf woman there in the Underdark around some weird fungus people... I needed the magical boots she had on; I "accidentally" killed her trying to get those boots but was able to smooth that over with my superior "persuasion" skill like "oh, a dreadful mistake there, sorry blahblah..." haha and those fools bought it and just like that I got a pass on the faux pas there.  I still had to drink an invisibility potion to successfully steal the boots though.

    On another note---with an earlier character when I got to the Underdark, I didn't even know you could speak with the Myconids (the odd fungus people)...I just saw them as enemy creatures and instantly went into attack mode.

  3. ha, the first time I heard that line of "you can't be racist to white people" was actually back in the early 90s----on MTV's Real World... the first season.  It was either Kevin or Heather B. (who went on to be a rapper, I remember)... I think it was Kevin saying that shit.  It immediately hit me as such a bizarre thing to say.  The fallout from the ongoing disaster of Sweet Baby is the gift that keeps on giving... as with all train-wreck situations in the industry, of course I love it.

    For the first time in quite a while I played Switch yesterday--- in Dead Cells I randomly unlocked a new character outfit, which was a nice surprise...it's the outfit to make you look like the guy from Katana Zero....I almost lost the unlock because I forgot about the situation where mimics are now possible everywhere there's a shop area in the game....one popped up so I was getting chased through the rest of the whole level by that and other enemies....no I didn't dare stop to fight it... the mimic in Dead Cells is one of the most dangerous enemies in the game....in fact yeah I'd say it is *the* most dangerous.  Golem isn't that bad in comparison.

    *ohhhh here we go with this one... 😆

  4. ...skins in a game that is still played in first-person, btw....if I recall, you only see your character in "Play of the Game" clips if you got that...or I guess if you're watching a replay of a moment from a different angle.  Customization of a character is less valuable to me when the game is first-person, since i'm not going to be seeing that cool character style most of the time anyway.....another reason I prefer 3rd person generally speaking.

  5. The Steam sales are crazy right now, as usual...just checking my wishlist at the moment there's a lot going on:

    The Dishwasher Vampire Smile = 2.49

    Witcher 3 = 9.99

    Saint's Row 2 = 2.49 (remember the good ol' days when SR was a good franchise?)

    Saint's Row Gat Out of Hell = 3.74

    Left 4 Dead 2 = 0.99

    Hexen = 1.49

    Prototype = 4.99

    Shadow Warrior = 2.99

    Metal Gear Rising Revengeance = 17.99

    Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 = 7.99.... I'm always on the fence here, because it's such an unfortunate mixed bag.  The game starts off as one hell of a cool vampire power fantasy like I've always wanted.... and then some asshole decided to throw in some *forced* stealth crap that makes no logical sense.

    Azure Striker Gunvolt = 5.99 (I already have this on Switch)

    X-Morph Defense = 3.99

    Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning = 9.99!

    Grime = 14.99

    Hades = 12.49

    Nobody Saves the World = 9.99

  6. BG3 -  that fall damage can be huge... I got to the Underdark area today with a character and fought those 2 minotaurs that show up right away... they made the mistake of being in just the right position next to a cliff, and as a warlock I was quick to take advantage of that... *Eldritch Blast* and BOOM they get knocked right off the side... it was a long way down for both of them.  The "repelling" effect for E. Blast is so damn good, I can't see anyone ever not taking it when playing warlock.  That effect doesn't need anything else; it's extremely useful from day 1 of your character. (The other warlock option people go for involves taking "Devil's Sight" but that's with the plan to combo it with the "Darkness" spell.)

    Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous was on sale recently for 11.99 on Steam so I got that now....I look forward to digging into that soon.  "Dhampir" is a character option so that was one of the things that caught my interest.  Tiefling race is in the mix as well; there's some interesting choices to work with there for sure.

  7. A photo mode would also be nice in BG3..... I'm wanting that more and more now that my character looks so damn cool in a proper villain outfit. (the dyed purple cloak and robe....full color customization would be preferable though, of course.... it's a shame they rarely give us that in games these days....in fact I can't remember the last game that allowed for full color customization of anything, aside from Modnation Racers on the PS3.....Modnation's customization options should've been a new standard for everything going forward....let the player change *everything* about appearance, even the textures on clothing, skin and various objects.

    *anyway---finally leveled up; Alastor is Warlock level 7 now....got another eldritch invocation; I went with "Book of Ancient Secrets", which gives you: Ray of Sickness, Chromatic Orb and Silence as "ritual"-cast spells that do not require a spell slot (but can only be done once per long rest)

    Cool new spell also---selected "Banishment"  --"temporarily banish your target to another plane of existence" ---this should be more OP than it is really... in this game it only lasts for 2 turns (haha that's nothing)... so as a thing that takes an enemy out of the fight for a while, other things like "Hold Person/Monster" are better since they last for 10(!!) turns.

    I also got Polymorph (just used it in a recent fight---turned an enemy into a sheep)... and Silence which seems amazing on paper--- it shuts down verbally-casted spells... and it lasts 100 turns.

  8. BG3 again of course----ha, so my character convinced yet another to kill himself.  That was a cool exchange there; and a life-saver... I doubt the crew would've survived a fight with that dude and the dozens of other beings he had in the area that were probably going to be summoned as help.  So now a certain task that the devil Raphael wanted us to do is completed....he wanted that one dead and it's done.  He showed up at camp when we did a Long Rest, and the resulting conversation was quite interesting.

    Act 2 of this game man... things get SO good; there's so much going on in this section of the game.

    *also I have quite a cool look going on... may post a pic later---this character has a robe and cloak/cape, then I found an amethyst dye and recolored both so now it's an all purple robe/cloak outfit.

  9. So, I'm on a puzzle in BG3 now that is instantly the most hated piece of shit I've probably ever seen... the "Faith Jump" trial.

    • The pathway is completely invisible....over a bottomless shadowy pit of course.
    • SOMETIMES if you fail or fall off it just warps you back to the starting point (and consuming one of the light spheres around the statues)...but sometimes it instantly kills you; I am not sure why that's seemingly random. (I thought the rule here was that once all the light spheres are consumed, *then* the next failure results in instant death)
    • Trying to jump from one platform to the other---nope, the character for some asinine reason disregards what you told them to do...and climbs down the platform as if they're trying to go to the bottomless pit and jump from there instead(???)...meaning instant death.
    • The path is actually shown on the floor in the starting area, but that's quite difficult to follow from what I've seen... I guess the only way is to take a picture of that and have it up next to the screen as I go while trying to compensate for slight changes in the camera angle as I walk?

    I gave up and tried "misty step" with warlock (was trying to have Shadowheart do this since this is an important thing for her character) but that doesn't work either...I'd have to know the exact spot of the extremely narrow pathways in the darkness over the pit....and so far it still seems to fail usually (just like the results of trying to jump)...resulting in instant death and reloading the save again.

    *nope, I don't have any scroll of flying or a spell for that.

    So far, I don't recall there ever being another puzzle part of a game that I've hated this much already.

    It's looking like save-scum tactics is the only realistic way of making it thru....take 1 step; save...take another step, save, etc. etc.

  10. BlazBlue Entropy Effect---I finally started getting the resource that lets you unlock more characters, so now I have Hakumen and Hibiki....so far Hakumen has been fun, though a bit slow compared to Jin.  The further you get the more ability/stuff you can unlock as you go, so it gets more interesting than the limited set of moves you start with.  I'd like to see this same idea using other fighting game rosters; the fighting genre mixed into roguelike/side-scrolling action always seemed like an awesome idea to me.

    BG3- ha, well that didn't take long... on my Steam-version Paladin character, the act of killing the 2 Tieflings that were holding Lae'zel (convinced them to let her out so we can killer...then killed them instead) made me an "oathbreaker" now.  https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Oathbreaker

  11. It's funny to see the new generation of pranksters that apparently didn't get the memo....that "pranks" on video were/are supposed to be FAKE.  You're not supposed to do the shit for real, or else yeah... you tend to find out "the hard way" pretty fast.

    On another note---"first world problems"--- there's so much more entertainment stuff in the world today that it's actually a bit too much to ever get caught up on.  The list of cool stuff I'm behind on in terms of shows (Mayfair Witches, Ninja Kamui, etc.), movies and especially games (e.g. Helldivers, Granblue Fantasy, Banishers, etc.) is crazy at this point....games much more than anything else, since that particular kind of entertainment is such an insane time-sink; 1 great game you enjoy with a lot of replay value can amount to hundreds or even thousands of hours of good times....just 1 game....and of course, imagine how many games have existed since the industry became a thing....and how many games are in development currently.  It's impossible to keep up, really.  ...and I just listed the classic, "major" forms of entertainment---then there's also the new kid on the block----the internet (mainly youtube; the "tv" with billions of channels; content of just about anything you can think of endlessly going...haha I currently have 5 youtube tabs and one live-stream going on right now as I made this post.)

    ...randomly that's another reason it's odd and silly to me that when the topic of immortality comes up, the usual response from most people is sadly that they'd get "bored"....haha get the fuck out of here with that nonsense.  There's barely enough time in life now to enjoy even a fraction of all the cool entertainment-related stuff out there that is continually being produced every day.....especially with this unfortunate human need for sleep taking up so much of our damn time in life.

  12. I just heard this point of contention again on a podcast/livestream I'm listening to at the moment---one thing I'll never agree with about critics of Man of Steel---when they have a problem with Superman eventually killing Zod.  It made perfect sense within the context of the movie/story there... what else was Kal-El supposed to do, bruh?  It was presented in a harshly real-world kinda way... anyone that's on my side of the issue has probably already gone thru these points a thousand times in their head at least:

    1. Clark was "fresh" at the superhero thing.
    2. As far as he knows, he is literally the ONLY dude on the planet at the moment that is capable of dealing with this bad guy Krptonian.
    3. Zod is quickly adjusting to his powers here on Earth...as time goes by, he will only become more of a threat quickly as he gets used to the effects of the sun.
    4. Zod has also clearly stated something to the effect of this only ending 1 of 2 ways---"either they die, or I do...".  He has heat vision about to vaporize some people and when begged to stop he's like "NEVER."  Ok, *neck snap* DONE.

    ..and again, this guy being a fellow Kryptonian happens to also be a military-born/trained dude....that makes the threat level here even worse when you consider that. (*imagine, you as a "regular dude" having to fight with some guy that's like a SWAT or Navy SEAL Team 6 badass with years of combat training...)  What, we're going to put him in a regular prison he'll easily break out of 2 seconds later?  In this movie we don't have that weird phantom zone trap thing so that's not an option....the Fortress is the only Kryptonian tech still around aside from the now destroyed ship the others arrived in and he wouldn't know how any of that shit works.

    I forgot if Clark was even aware of kryptonite at this point, actually...so that's another option that's not quite on the table if I recall. (and even there, he wouldn't be carrying it around...that job would likely fall to Batman, who Clark hasn't even met in this movie)

  13. haha that was cool... in one early dungeon type area... when you break the door down, there's 1 character in there alone, but if she runs off she will alert others for help... well this time since this latest character is a paladin, I used that "Command" spell and it worked... commanded her to "approach", so that stopped her from running over to the other door to get help....instead she turned around and came back over to me....  I easily killed her while those in the other room are still unaware of our presence.

  14. Toriyama is one of those notable people that I think of when there's that question of who you'd like to interview/chat with in person... it would be interesting just hearing what it's like creating a character and story/universe that goes on to be so incredibly popular across the world for years and decades and all the merchandising that goes with it---toys, games, movies, clothing, etc.  It's a thing probably every other artist or other creative-type person dreams of... to have produced something from your imagination and sketchbooks that hits BIG with the world like that.

  15. BG3 - so I got the Everburn sword again on another paladin character (Steam Deck version)... things got off to a good start right away when Shadowheart's close-range attack with a "necrotic damage" touch actually did 22 points of damage to Zhalk... a surprisingly huge amount of damage right at the start of the game; I forgot if he's weak to necrotic damage or perhaps that was just a "good roll" on the attack but that was huge.  As usual I also had her cast "Guidance" on Mindflayer to help him fight Zhalk for us....then of course we killed Mindflayer later for the exp.

    The Everburn sword might actually be good for a warlock as well if you go the route of "Pact of the Blade", I assume...making that your "bound" magical weapon....but yeah that sword is such an incredible item to get in the early game....it's hard to imagine starting things off any other way now... even if your main character will be a primarily magic based character, it's still good to get if someone in the party (like Lae'zel or perhaps Karlach) is a strength-based character....and then there's the huge amount of exp to consider as well.  Running past the fight like normal means you have just missed out on 150 xp; you could've been level 2 immediately after the ship crash.  It's too good to pass up.

  16. Well, I never gave this topic any thought until Coach brought it up now...

    yeah---if they go way overboard with a super-sized bbl---how can they still do proper wiping?  Imagine a woman walking around with that big fake dump-truck sized booty....and it's just permanently stank back there... no way to fix it.... possible leakage + dooky remnant smells.

    The Office Lol GIF

    *edit---and I still wonder how the women with those super fingernails (e.g.--the ladies of the 90s RnB group SWV) wipe either....how?  Isn't there a danger of cutting your ass with those long talon-like nails?

  17. BG3 - So... a new level of depravity... I realized you can pick up the dead bodies and throw them like "improvised" weapons, so that's another little detail for adding insult to injury....also, my Tiefling warlock Julian finished off helping with the massacre of the Grove.... I actually found the body of a dead Tiefling kid and had Shadowheart throw him around a bit (this requires someone with a certain level in Strength, of course and even with that---she's only strong enough to pick up small bodies---gnomes, halflings, kids, etc.)... I threw up at a vase one time to break it.  I didn't get a chance to use the corpse as a weapon though since there's never any survivors of the Grove.

    It was extra nice to kill Kagha, Arron and those other druids...it always is.  This time I made sure to kill Arron asap since he has that "Darkness" spell which is quite a dangerous problem to deal with.....always nice to look over the results of this battle; the bodies everywhere... a whole village slaughtered and gone.  Such a beautifully played betrayal.  They never really had a chance once everything was set into motion.  Exquisite carnage indeed, Minthara.
