For real. Assholes like that are half of why I always tip at least $5, no matter what I order. Other half is I'm cheap and that rule at least motivates me to get out of the house and get my own damn food.

@axeman61Chadwick keeping it secret really hits home for me because that's what my dad did. I was 23 (two weeks before my 24th birthday) when my dad died. It'll be 18 years on the 28th of this month. My mom made my dad tell us, he seemed fine up until like 6 weeks before he died. My dad had cancer almost half my life, he found out when I was 13. I think back on some many things with him. We butted heads when I was 18 and I don't even know if that would have happened if I knew he was sick. Some of the things he did that seemed irrational was because I didn't have the context. Now I do, things make so much more sense, and I can't even talk to him about it.....and sorry for getting WAY off topic. November is just a rough month for me.

Edit: If I seem grouchier than usual it's because... well I am. Not excusing it, but you all at least know why.

Something I've been meaning to ask: how the hell do you let anyone keep you on the phone for 5-6 hours (if that isn't a gross exaggeration)? Even if I'm having the most fun ever talking to the person, an hour is stretching it for me.

Still bugging out on this Silk Sonic album. Still mystifies me how not only is NO track bad, but the singles put out (Leave the Door Open, Skate) before it dropped have healthy competition in After Last Night and Put on a Smile. Both those things (all-around solidness, unknown songs on the album competing with singles) are rare for me, even for low-track count albums.

I'm not broke, but I'd bootleg OF too. Even if you have full access to someone's feed, the site is garbage in terms of searching for stuff.

Some anti-vaxxers are getting the vaccine thanks to mandates, then trying to get it out of their bodies.

Wow. This Silk Sonic album doesn't have a bad song on it. Not every one is making it onto my favorite list, mind you, but they're all good. While I don't consume much music, I haven't been able to say that much. It's a miracle if I like even 2 or 3 songs from an album.

Do any of you have an album where every track is a winner?

Found a new subreddit that has potential. byebyejob. It's about people doing or saying something publicly that could cost them their job and then quitting/getting fired. Right now, it's varied, but has quite a bit of vaccine mandate content. Mandate content is going to pick up a lot later on, I suspect.

I saw Patton Oswalt last night. Great show. He's in what feels like the early stages of piecing an hour together (he did more crowd work than I'm used to from him), but I'd recommend seeing him if you're a fan and the tour hits close to your town. But I'm about to get on a soapbox here.

I hate to tie this in to Dave Chappelle, but Patton's show last night is another reason I hate cancel culture: sometimes, comedians I like dedicate just a little too much time to talking about that instead of coming up with jokes. There's all this controversy over The Closer, but I still feel that it's just mid: most of his jokes when he veered into LGBT+ are barely jokes and most of those anorexic jokes were played out. It's not about the gay stuff; I'm not an "ally" of the LGBT+, and I'm not an enemy. It's the fact that he spent a majority of the show talking about one topic and (in my eyes) didn't bring the the insight, humor and thoughtfulness I expect from him to it. It was more of a rant. Cancel culture, and Dave's perception of it, is more the root cause vs the LGBT+ community itself. I may have laughed like 5 times, and I was at one of the live tapings of that special.

But Patton was just jokes and had me laughing the whole damn time. Even the crowd work was great*. Thinking on it now, it makes me a bit sad. Patton, though he's great, was just barely good enough to get me out of the house today. This is just one early spot on his tour. Still, I laughed my ass off. On the other hand, I was way past hype to see Chappelle this second time around (saw him before Sticks and Stones in 2019) and came out of his show thinking "Eh, he'll be better next time. He said he was going to stop talking about that shit.".

*We, as a crowd, hit paydirt with a pediatrician who at some point while talking to Patton said "funny story: teenagers don't have pubes anymore". The results of that made the show leave Earth.

Just got back from Eternals. It was the very definition of "aight" to me. Maybe I need to watch it again, but I just barely like it. If my rating was an RT score, it would just barely be a tomato. I liked Shang Chi more.
