WWE has done that. Remember how fucking awful the build to Bianca vs Sasha Banks was for WrestleMania 37? Somehow they got the main-event and had the best match of the night.

Obsidian developed my favorite fallout game, New Vegas and it is hands down the most broken game Bethesda as ever published. The game must have been put together with glue and duck tape but my god was the game fun and it's characters engaging.

@RSG3Agreed on Obsidian. Their are games are buggy but at least they're good enough to make the bugs worth dealing with. Bugthesda, not so much.

Turn based combat in 8 bit RPGs was more fun than combat in Skyrim. 

When I comes to Resident Evil, RE4 is actually my favorite. I hated the "tank" controls and fixed camera BS of the prior games. It's "fake" difficulty. I should have to fight the enemies in a game not it's controls.

Really? Because Automata is one of the greatest games of all time. I mean, just look at this gameplay.
 

As someone that finds the original Final Fantasy 7 to be the most overrated game of all time, I find this take strange. Part of the reason I feel that way about game is because I'd played other JPRGs that already did what it was acclaimed for and they often did i better.

If you ever seen Indie Game: The Movie (single biggest contributor to the success of his game), you can plainly see just how much of an asshole he was during the development process. He becomes insufferable during the crunch period. 

Kotaku is completely misrepresenting the issue here. I watched Tarks video on the subject and he clearly states that gaming media was discriminatory towards Japanese games at the time. Kotaku wants to present this as a community problem and that a fucking lie. They are deflecting hardcore.

So many jrpgs are nothing like FF7...
 
Lot of modern made JRPGs doesn't appeal to me much anymore. They have narratives for young teenagers and shit, and there's nothing wrong with that, im just almost 40, not a young teen anymore, I don't find power of friendship Shonen style storytelling compelling anymore and that's like 60% of most jrpgs. 
 
But even then it still depends. Like Tales of Arise and Elden Ring are both action jrpgs but aside from not using turn based combat they are....nothing alike lol. I have both versions of Persona 5 but I passed on Star Ocean 5 because it's character designs where awful and I could tell the writing was probably going to match. I'd have probably given Xenoblade 2 a longer look if all the Blade designs weren't weirdly uncomfortable 14 year old girls with DDD titties.

I fail to see how FF7 could break your enjoyment of all the future offerings, specially from different studios.
