I've been playing a lot of older fighting games from the SNES/Genesis/NES over the past couple.

What I found interesting about the above games is that they all had the six-button layout. The Street Fighter layout was the way to go back in the day. A few other games (TMNT Tournament Fighters SNES version) went with the four-button layout. I like playing and analyzing the games from back then. 

Walking back works with some characters, but Sub is too slow. Sikander countered it mostly with Arctic Trap, but it sucks to have to switch to a variation you're not familiar with just because of one move. Also, the skill gap between him and those guys he played is huge, yet they're able to take the occasional round off of him only because of the stomp. 
 
I'm not defending Sikander here by the way, the guy has a scrub mentality, which is especially disappointing considering he's one of the best players around.

Good butted normals is the best defensive mechanic.

I like Shang's buff and debuff spells, hopefully they won't be among the banned moves.

Wow. Some Kung Lao player got a 583 damage combo on me without a FB. As if I didn't despise that character enough already.
 
And yeah, the long throw animations are really vexing, especially Kotal's and Erron's.

I really wish throws weren't so over animated and looooong.
 
I was playing a Kotal Kahn last night and I couldn't tell what what his command grab and what was his regular grab for the whole first game. Had to wait until he burned meter on the command grab to know for sure. 
 
The man mixed me up so good, that I was full bond style.

As with 99% of PC fighting games... its not the best version of the game.
Also doesn't get patches the same time as the console versions do, its not a priority for NRS.

I went ahead and tried to document the damage every character gets off their best/longest buffered medium button. My goal was to find who more or less gets the best conversions in footsies. The results aren't perfect but they are good enough for my purposes. Just sharing in case anyone else is curious.

The characters in red I had trouble with. If anyone here uses them and can tell me a better combo or whatever id appreciate it.
 
Right now its just meterless and 1 EX bar. May or may not add VT in the future

I've never played a SF game in my life where so many DPs just so happen to whiff. It's ridiculous. 

How do you struggle in Silver? Not being disparaging, genuinely asking. At that level, all you need to do is AA consistently and know a few basic combos to get to Gold.

I thought it was my first one, so it bummed me out. I have 4, so whatever... TIME TO STEP ON EVERYONE'S TOES AND GET AAAALLLL THE DOWN VOTES!

I picked MK11 back up the other night, finished story mode and went through the Character tower with Shang Tsung. Hes a character whose variations seem a little more "complete" to me, at least the Warlock and Soul Eater variations, can't speak for the other one. Kano's are close-ish but it seems to me like Vegemighty should be one of his regular moves rather than only for Dirtbag. This game is legit fun.

Stick drift can sometimes be fixed by squirting some silicone lubricant into the analog stick assembly.  I've fixed drift on some Dualshock 4 pads this way.
 

 
 

I bought Doom Eternal a little while ago, it was only 20 euros for PS4. 
 
While the platforming gets on my nerves from time to time, I do enjoy the action. Controls are great, music's great. I like the weapon variety and the amount of monsters the game throws at you. I never finished the original Doom games because navigating the maze-like levels just became too tedious for me. I like how Eternal is a lot more clear on where you need to go, even if it's not always obvious at first. I'm currently in the mission for the last Hell Priest and I'm surprised how manageable the game is on the standard Hurt me Plenty difficulty; I was getting killed over and over in the beginning, but now I've got the hang of it. This will probably  be the first Doom game I will see through to the end.
