Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will feature a “Figure Mode” in which players can place and edit characters and set pieces to create original dioramas, publisher Cygames and developer Cygames Osaka announced during today’s “Granblue Fantasy Showcase: Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Relink Part 1.” Nine minutes of “Grand Bruise Legends” gameplay was also showcased.

Quote

“In this mode, you’ll place and edit Granblue Fantasy characters and set pieces found within Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising to create original dioramas,” explained Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising creative director Tetsuya Fukuhara during the showcase. “I think fans of Granblue‘s characters will find it particularly enjoyable. Really, I feel the amount we’ve put into this mode is staggering. There are a ton of high-quality 3D models to play with, as we really wanted to spoil our players for options. It’s possible to tweak even small details, so please post your dioramas online, and share your proud creations with the world! We’re also planning to host some type of official photo contest, but we’ll share more details about that when more has been decided.”

Using technical inputs will result in 10% more damage than their simplified counterparts.

  • No more gauge penalty when using Plus Skills so you’ll be able to use them like in Granblue Fantasy Versus
  • Major changes to Ultimate Skills
It will cost 50% of your SBA to activate. You’ll be able to chain Ultimates into combos, as well as follow it up with additional attacks. Even during skill cooldown, you can activate an Ultimate.
  • Changes to Dash Attacks
There is more of a difference between the various dash attacks. Light dash attack now advances much farther, and is good for quickly closing the gap between you and your opponent. Meanwhile, heavy dash attacks will deal more damage if they land. As well, countering a heavy dash effect will cause a screen effect. This is more to increase the overall aesthetic of the game.
  • Changes to Throws
The window to throw break is much shorter, making it harder to get out of one. There will be two ways to throw break. The first is to input a throw at the right timing, and this will be a perfect throw break that won’t cause any damage. If you press any button during the throw break window, it will count as a slow throw break. A slow throw break will still deal damage (albeit reduced), and the advantage remains with your opponent. This change was due to feedback that throws are much too weak.
  • You take more damage the less BP you have. Guard crushes from a Raging Strike, Skybound Arts, and Super Skybound Arts also deplete BP
  • Changes to Raging Strikes
Raging Strikes will no longer require the SBA gauge and instead will cost 1 BP. If it lands, you can guard crush and deplete 1 BP from your foe. Cygames adjusted Raging Strikes to have a slower start-up time. However, the reach is much longer and you can now chain it into a combo.
  • Changes to Brave Counters
Like with Raging Strikes, you no longer need the SBA gauge and it will cost 1 BP. The input is the same as a Raging Strike, and there is also a change to the visual effect.
  • Changes to Skybound Arts/Super Skyboard Arts
When you land a hit at close range, an SBA can deplete 1 BP while a SSBA can deplete 2. Because this happens first, your opponent may take significant damage depending on how much BP they have after. It also restores the user’s BP by 1. However, this only takes effect if the SBA or SSBA deals damage. Therefore, characters like Lowain will not be able to recover BP this way.
  • Cost 25% to activate Raging Chain but with a gauge penalty. They’re also harder to land, but are rewarding since they can start a powerful combo.
  • If you use technical input, your Skills can deal 10% more damage. This is because of those using technical input need to spend longer than someone using simple input to use their skills.

Virtua Fighter 3tb Online announced for arcade

Due out on November 28 in Japan.

Virtua Fighter 3tb first launched in Japanese arcades in September 1997 as an update to Virtua Fighter 3. As the “tb” in its name implies, the game defaults to a three-on-three “team battle” format and adds new skills and balance updates on top of the original game.

Virtua Fighter 3tb Online adds online battles based on the technology of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, allowing players to challenge other users across the country. Additionally, Aime card support allows users to display their player names and records, which can be edited and viewed on VF3tb Online.NET.

Them's Fightin' Herds to end active development, Story Mode canceled and facing fan backlash along with refund requests

What started as an unofficial My Little Pony fighting game over a decade ago managed to evolve into something more, but it seems that too is going to be coming to an end.

Developers Mane6 and publisher Modus Games recently announced that Them's Fightin' Herds is going to be ending active development sooner than anticipated, including the cancelation of the crowdfunded Story Mode — and unsurprisingly led to backlash from fans and backers.

The team shared an update to their Steam store page and community Discord for the game where they discuss the future of Them's Fightin' Herds and say what players were hoping to not hear.

After giving an overview of the third DLC character Nidra, Mane6 also revealed the fourth and final addition to the Season 1 Pass being Baihe and presumably the game's only season.

"As we look forward to the release of Nidra and Baihe, let's talk about what comes next," reads the official update. "After the Season 1 Pass is complete, we will be ceasing active development on TFH. We will still be able to release small patches to address game-breaking bugs, but no new content will be produced. Unfortunately, that includes Story Mode.

Story Mode has always been an ambitious feature and one we truly desired to implement. We know how much our fans have been looking forward to Story Mode chapters, and we hope you understand how much we looked forward to working on and releasing them."

So while they did release chapter one and plan on putting out what work they have done on chapter two, it sounds like that's going to be it for the game.

This led to unhappy owners to take to the Steam reviews and turn the recent ratings from Very Positive to Mostly Negative as well as voicing their complaints on social media and the original Indiegogo page.

Story Mode was the final stretch goal for in their crowdfunding campaign asking for $560,000 and ended up receiving a total of $586,346 from backers.

That ended all the way back in 2017 with the game eventually leaving early access on PC in 2020 and then consoles finally just over a year ago.

Mane6 was purchased by Modus Games in 2022 as well, which had fans hopeful that meant the fighting game would continue to receive regular funding from the publisher, but that apparently is no longer the case.

As to whether it was the developer or publisher who ultimately decided to pull the plug on this project spanning over a decade, we may never truly know — though many are probably going to have their assumptions.

It has left potentially over 10,000 backers and even more thousands of players feeling like they quite literally did not get what they paid for upwards of 7 years ago if not more.

They weren't clear what backer tiers and rewards had yet to be fulfilled after all this time, but multiple comments on the Indiegogo page suggest that could include the promised exclusive Crowdfunded Physical Edition players had to spend $100+ for.

I feel weird about Elphelt. I think an Aggretsuko/Baby Metal singer with a sniper rifle is a very Guilty Gear design, but I realized what I really liked about the character was her bride gimmick. Riding a giant bouquet, cutting the cake, that kind of stuff.

And gameplay wise her rework was a big one which I feel like no one should be surprised about at this point
