This is special, because it feels like I'm watching the lead up to either a suicide or a murder-suicide. Assuming he doesn't get arrested. EDP legit has nothing to live for after this.

Super late on this, but EDP is an Eagles superfan who got slowly got popular over the course of 10 or so years for his rants and wild behavior. Dude was basically an incel due to his weight and views, but he was popular on youtube due to the fact that he was raw and authentic, I guess.
 
His channel had just recently hit 1M subs in 2020. He was close to or over 2M when this whole drama started. Youtube terminated his channel after this though.

Yeah, I liked Chiseled Adonis's and Daquan Witshire's streams on EDP too.

I still feel it's stupid in terms of its limitations (only people with the tattoo can have powers) and the randomness of it (what will those powers be). If they could find a way to drop that next movie I wouldn't be mad.

I didn't mean financially. I meant failing as a movie. This was underwhelming even by "just here for the fighting" standards. Now we have to just hope a sequel does things better (IF this gets one).

Ugh. I don't buy the "let the artist roam free with no editors"  notion, but still: studios need to stop throwing bullshit in just for the hell of it. I can think of no reason we couldn't have been following a more known character like Liu Kang or Sonya.

If WB can shoehorn in Cole Young and his relation to the story, who knows what else they can mandate. Still though, it doesn't seem like the tattoo thing was them. A new character, I can see them wanting. But tattoos being the source of peoples' powers? That seemed to be planned in advance. That's just me though.

That's about how I feel (just saw it). It's aight.
 
Going in, I resigned myself to the story being garbage and was pretty much just hanging on for the fight scenes. Even with that, the story is weak enough that the action, while good, isn't good enough to distract from that. It's strange. I can tell some actual fandom and passion went into this. But the script just fell down. It's not like the game is very good story wise either though. I'm hoping a sequel  (if this gets one) does better.
 
Maybe a second watch will make me feel better about it.
