Why you surprised? She got publicly defamed by one of the largest companies in Hollywood. Johnny Depp, after proving his ex was an abusive lying PoS, isn't getting any roles in Hollywood either. She literally has nothing to lose and everything to gain in this scenario. It's Elon's money and lawyers. If she loses she'll still be in the same situation she is now but no poorer for it. People have been bringing up Pedro Pascal's tweets but the real big deal is the discovery phase. That's typically where large companies fold because they don't want internal dirt leaking out.

That's not even getting to the other factors at play. Disney is in the middle of a proxy war. One that Elon's seemingly getting on. Anything unscrupulous that comes out in this case will just help undermine existing leadership further. I'm curious about their next earnings call. Disney is doing terribly and are seemingly doing nothing to change course.

Good point. This could eventually lead to a huge upheaval in Disney management. If there ever was a time to attack and disrupt them, it definitely is now.

  2. More info on the sports app:

The new app will give subscribers access to ESPN+ and various linear channels that show live sports, including ABC, Fox, TNT, TBS, truTV, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, FS1, FS2, SECN, ACCN, and BTN. The companies' announcement promised access to "thousands of events" through the app, including from the NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, and NHL, as well as PGA, Wimbledon, UFC, and Formula 1 events, the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, the FIFA World Cup, and college sports. An anonymous person "familiar with the matter" told Variety that the app won't make original content.

    No price point yet.

Anyone else tired of SF6? I don't dislike the game and I think it's a big improvement over V, I just don't feel like playing it anymore for some reason.

Between Granblue and Tekken I can't dedicate time to SF6. Fighting games have strange cycles; either a bunch of games come out at one time or existing games get DLC with no new releases for the foreseeable future. I do plan to get back into SF6 when Akuma is released.

    Cool. How come?

After exiting “The Daily Show” in 2015, Stewart signed a deal with Apple to host a show for the company’s streaming service. But that show came to an end last year due to creative differences.

Jon will only be hosting on Mondays while an interchangeable group of comedians tackles the rest of the week. He will also be the executive producer.

  5. Notorious arcade gamer Billy Mitchell settles suit over Donkey Kong world record

The settlement was announced in LA County Superior Court on Thursday morning — three months before the lawsuit was set to go to trial — during a hearing to determine whether Mitchell and an attorney for Twin Galaxies would face sanctions for misconduct during discovery.

Mitchell appeared in court wearing his trademark black suit with an American flag tie and handkerchief. When asked to comment on the settlement, he said only: "I'm sorry, I don’t know you."

David Tashroudian, Twin Galaxies' lawyer, declined to comment as well, except to say that "everyone’s excited after four years" to see a resolution in the case.

    ...

The court was scheduled to hear arguments on both motions for sanctions on Thursday morning. Instead, a settlement was announced.

Both Tashroudian and Mitchell appeared relived, shaking hands in the hallway. But no one appeared more pleased with the end of the case than Judge Chang, who told the parties during the short hearing: "Oh my word. Can I tell you how happy I am?"

I can only imagine the absolute goldmine of material going on in his live-chat section as this was happening....moderators probably had to put in serious work that day. "No this is not a pregnancy announcement, guys." bruh... 😆

ah, so Jasper the Cat is still there as well, I see.

DSP is participating in a documentary by Mike Clum, the same guy that did a documentary on boogie2988 a couple of months ago. Mike made it clear that he will be kicking over a lot of rocks to make it interesting.

You know who the people are asking for guest characters in Street Fighter? The ones that claim the love NRS games and then proceed to stop playing the NRS games about 3 weeks in.

    :coffee:

The lore is deep enough in SF that it will never need guest characters. For SF6, there is enough personality and guest characters would just throw off the narrative.

Funnily enough I actually avoided MK 1 because of all the guest characters that were previewed in the season pass.

  8. An interesting article from gizmodo highlighting the future prospects of AI being utilized for game development:

Generative AI works by ingesting vast quantities of existing material and using statistical models to churn out content that looks like stuff the AI has seen before. That means that AI art is inherently derivative, at least to a certain extent. Gamers in China are already revolting against companies using AI to build game assets that fans say feel cheap and soulless, complete with missing limbs and other bizarre AI hallucinations. That’s a problem that’s going to get a lot worse as the ecosystem faces the upcoming glut of low-effort titles.

Plus, there are serious concerns about where the content used to build AI comes from, and whether its artists and creators get appropriate compensation. The New York Times is currently suing OpenAI over allegations the ChatGPT maker stole the newspaper’s copywriter material. Roblox, for example, says its algorithms are built on proprietary data from its users, but the company has already been criticized for turning kid game creators into underpaid laborers.

Playing FINAL FANTASY V Pixel Remaster, Maaaaaan, the ABP Boost is a godsend in this game. I mastered very few Job Classes in the PS and GBA version of FFV because you were lucky if you came across an enemy that gave you 5 ABP. Thanks to ABP Boost, I fight Black Flames and get 12 ABP every time. I was decent with 4 ABP I was getting in most fights but now I can get 12? That's what's good. And that arranged FFVPR soundtrack...

I am planning to play the pixel remasters this year. I have seen some mixed discussions about them but they sound like an improved experience over previous versions. Currently I am playing 8-bit Adventures 2, it has a great retro aesthetic with plenty of modern features in the battle system and character upgrades to make it fresh.

Im sick of people in the game industry always crying and complaining on the internet when they lose their job.  They should already know going into this field that the turnover rate is horrible.  These fuckin' people didnt get laid off or fired they quit.

Given the current state of video game marketing, there should be much less video game journalists. Almost none of them do interviews or visit game development studios anymore, so 90% of video game journalism is just reviews and speculation anyway.
