Playing FINAL FANTASY V Pixel Remaster, Maaaaaan, the ABP Boost is a godsend in this game. I mastered very few Job Classes in the PS and GBA version of FFV because you were lucky if you came across an enemy that gave you 5 ABP. Thanks to ABP Boost, I fight Black Flames and get 12 ABP every time. I was decent with 4 ABP I was getting in most fights but now I can get 12? That's what's good. And that arranged FFVPR soundtrack...

I am planning to play the pixel remasters this year. I have seen some mixed discussions about them but they sound like an improved experience over previous versions. Currently I am playing 8-bit Adventures 2, it has a great retro aesthetic with plenty of modern features in the battle system and character upgrades to make it fresh.

Im sick of people in the game industry always crying and complaining on the internet when they lose their job.  They should already know going into this field that the turnover rate is horrible.  These fuckin' people didnt get laid off or fired they quit.

Given the current state of video game marketing, there should be much less video game journalists. Almost none of them do interviews or visit game development studios anymore, so 90% of video game journalism is just reviews and speculation anyway.

  2. Leaked documents from Twitter / X reveal major internal changes since Musk took over, including moderation policies:

It reveals in detail how contractors are no longer authorised to take action against users posting racist, sexist, and homophobic content, and how the enforcement against these accounts has become less exacting.

    ...

Under the new rules implemented over the last six months, unsolicited sexual posts sent to another user are no longer subject to the same level of enforcement, and are not removed from X.

Neither are certain posts that deny violent events such as the Holocaust, or posts that refer to specific slurs for black, white and gay people or harass someone by sending a picture of Adolf Hitler performing a Nazi salute.

Posts that reference mass murder or violent events, or which incite fear about a protected category – meaning on the basis of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender – are today publicly labelled as violative of X’s policies and have their reach restricted.

One document tells moderators “do not suspend” accounts that are “wishing, hoping, prompting, or calling for physical harm, death or disease targeting an individual”.

In these documents, punishment is only described as a reduction in visibility or de-prioritization.

I'm of two minds on these devices.

On one hand, one of the best uses of a PSP was for its emulation capabilities and it was great being able to carry all that around in one device, so I can absolutely understand the appeal there.

On another, most recent (last 5 years or so?) model phones can run these games better than these devices will and have better hardware under the hood. I don't know why you wouldn't just get a beefy phone for a daily driver and then one of those Razer Kishi grip controllers. I don't know about other phones, but Samsungs have a PC mode so you can play things on a monitor through speakers.

I bought the Pocket 3+ earlier this year. I actually find these devices are more convenient than using emulation from a phone; the buttons and layout is fine, and it is capable of tackling whatever I want to play without too much setup.

Get it before Nintendo steps in.

  4. Elphelt seems interesting, she definitely is the type of character I like to play. It is strange that the gun and grenade moves appear similar to her previous design but her look is almost a complete rework. Elphelt is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, if the pattern for Strive's DLC continues then the next character will be have another complex gimmick.

  5. After years of dodging US financial regulations, Binance has agreed to comply with regulators' inquiries regarding records and criminal investigations.

Binance has also agreed to scour all of its transactions from 2018 to 2022 and file suspicious activity reports (SARs) for anything it deems a potential violation of US law from that five-year period. That “SAR lookback” means the company will now be actively scrutinizing its customers in retrospect, not just passively assenting to regulators poring over its databases. Those SARs are collected by FinCEN, the Treasury Department's financial crimes division, but then made available to law enforcement agencies from the FBI to IRS Criminal Investigations to local police. And all of this new scrutiny will be overseen by a "monitor" firm chosen by the US government but paid by Binance—an in-house watchdog assigned to make sure Binance is complying in good faith.

"I don't think Binance's customers have the slightest clue of the ramifications of this plea and consent decree. It's unprecedented," says John Reed Stark, who spent 20 years as an attorney at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including as the founder of its Office of Internet Enforcement. “If they're a drug dealer or a terrorist or a child pornography peddler, they're going to get caught." He describes Binance's agreement as a "24/7, 365-days-a-year financial colonoscopy."
