Speaking of that, the people refering to Namor as Latino are wrong btw, since if he is Mayan/Aztec, he is pre hispanic, aka native american.
And while the countries that had mayan/aztec cities on them, make it part of their identity, we are not the same at all, neither as culture, neither as race (which as I said before, Latino is not a race, but a collection of cultures.)

Jazz theory was built on the back of classical theory. The iii-vi-ii-V-I chord progression that was a staple of jazz up through the 50s was something Bach was doing back in the 1700s, and the harmonies of a lot of jazz were influenced by late 1800s Romantic/Impressionist composers. Most of those jazz musicians were avid listeners of classical music too, and some (notably Miles Davis) even did Third Stream albums that blended jazz and classical music. Jazz wouldn't exist the way it is without classical music and the written tradition that was fostered around it. Yes, it went in many different places eventually, but big bands were essentially mini orchestras and while Charlie Parker & Thelonius Monk were basically punks before punk rock, they were still playing over western influenced chord progressions with western derived scales.

Gonna check out that video, I've heard of it but never watched it. Thanks for posting it.

Edit: Checked out some of the comments and I think this one really hits the nail on the head as far as the whole debate is concerned

So I’ve been on some new medicine to help with my anxiety and depression for a few days now and I can already feel it’s working. That said, it’s odd that I can tangibly feel how my brain is processing my depression and anxiety now.

I still have a lot of the feelings I normally have about depression, anxiety, self doubt, paranoia about how people feel towards me etc. It’s now with me being on  the medicine it feels like my mind has a body guard.

I can “feel” that I’m still feeling all these feelings but now with the medicine my mind tells those feelings  “naw man, You’re not allowed in this mind palace homie”. Which lets me completely dismiss those negative feelings Im having and I can have the freedom to think about something else entirely.

Those thoughts I usually give more time too now are about things I need to do that day, what’s going on with friends and family, focusing more on what I’m presently doing, or just something else entirely.

I’ve only been on the medicine for a few days and I know my problems aren’t immediately solved with this medicine. I know every day is going to be a different battle. Sometimes easily won — sometimes not.

But to notice this big and this significant of a difference is really nice. I feel like I’m starting to gain some ground and I can really start working towards the things I’ve been wanting.

The medicine is kind of a pain in the ass to take as I have to take it three times a day but that’s a small nuisance to deal with for the kind of clarity I’ve been wanting and needed in the last six years.

There is a big difference between being political and having politics as part of the themes.
That is what makes a big difference in how a a character inspired on person irl is received.

    Take for example The Boys.
They have a character that was clearly inspired by AOC to some extent, but her role on the story goes beyond that, therfoire the character is well received, the same for the political themes that the series touches on.

I don't have time to go link hunting before work, but listen to this woman's story if you've got time. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/e146-helena-talks-about-what-its-like-to-detransition/id1437447846?i=1000535539958

None of what I'm saying is about being anti-trans, anti gay, or anything of the sort. I just think kids should wait before medicalizing the issue because kids- especially teens are- are very unstable and easily impressionable. A lot of them get sold on the idea that the reason they're depressed or unhappy with their bodies is because of their assigned gender, when really depression and all that comes with it are a pretty normal part of being a teen. I clearly recall being a depressed teen thinking "I would be happy if X"- surely a lot of you had that experience as well. Being encouraged to do something that will change your body permanently and having a community of idiots tell you "this is why you feel bad, go through these transitions and you'll feel better" has to harm for more people than exercising more caution with the very small percentage of people who really have gender dysphoria.

That meme is fucking dumb because 2 things (actually more)
    1) Most people who have pointed out how SW became political don't have a problem with Finn, most actually lament that he was wasted since the impression many had was that he was going to be a main character, a ex storm troopper becoming a jedi, something that many people thought it would have been cool.

    2) There is a big difference with a work having political themes and being political.
Like the Xmen of old vs the actual story lines, there is a clear shift on how the political themes on the books are portrayed.

Let alone trying to make it seem like he has a problem with Finn which he never had.

If anything the problem many had is that Disney made a huge deal of casting Boyega as Finn just to waste his talent and his character as nothing more than a comic relief and a cheerleader for Rey.

It's all for cred. These folks just want to be known as "the one who brought down x person we're calling a fascist this week" because it makes them look good.

The folks saying Rogan is anti vax are misrepresenting him. Somewhere along the way, not being gung ho about the vaccine became you're an anti vaxxer and he's made an excellent point saying that the government and media would be better served telling people to take their vitamins and get into shape than just pushing the vaccine itself.

That would require thinking of men as human beings with emotions and feelings and not as providers and nothing more. Those are the type of women to picket a men's shelter until it closes down because men don't have problems they only create them or whatever bullshit.

I think Rogan is fine, but most of his recent actions are reactionary.  They took down a video that was basically a candid conversation of the + and - of MRNA vaccine technology from THE SCIENTIST WHO DEVELOPED IT and the blue check marks acted like he was spreading a bunch of misinformation.  He then used his reach on twitter to push a mass exodus to another platform.  These people more and more are behaving like radical religious fundamentalists and a whole lot less like the rational beings capable of any type of discussion.  They are just authoritarians who wear the "greater good" cause as a mask to veil their true nature.  This is also why I laugh when they call everyone and their mom a fascist, because it comes across as confession through projection.  The worst kind of bootlicker is the person  who doesn't even realize they are licking boots.

Spoiler:   You ain't gonna do SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEET.

You're not tolerating anyone.  You can go and try to make people do this and that, but those,"Idiots" have as much choice as you do.

Speaking of which,  let's go into these,"Idiots" you keep ranting about.  Which ones are to blame?

The flood coming in through the border illegally?

the refugees flown out of Afghanistan?  Something tells me they didn't get vaxxed on the ride here.

How's about all the criminals that were locked up but then let out because,"It would be wrong to leave them in an enclosed area during the pandemic"?  If the vax is such hot shit why didn't they give it to them?

Maybe those idiots down in chinatown when Nancy pelosi was encouraging people to gather in public to help erase Asian hate during the previous admin, even though the disease was already known to be here in America.  (I kid you not, that's what she said and did.)

What about all the BLM and Antifa riots of the past year?  If all of them were jabbed up then please ignore this comment.  Also:  I'll slide you a box of Benjamins upon confirmation of this.

Speaking of, what about that jab?  I've been hearing a lot of reports of people dying from it and not the virus.  Do you think that might have anything to do with people not wanting to get it?  Maybe more people would be accepting of it if the government wasn't censoring news about it.  Hell, the main people being allowed to speak on it can't keep their stories straight either so nobody even knows which way to turn.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but none of these mandates have been made into punishable offenses for failure to comply.  Why?  Because they cannot do so.  More importantly, they don't want the smoke.  This ain't China.  we will fight back if you try that shit here.

    Oh.  And speaking of China:

The reason they aren't a smoking radioactive crater right now is because the mortality rate is low.  If it were the 20% you named, we would be at WAR.  If you unleash something that kills off that much of any country's population, you will be getting a knock on your door and by,"Knock" I mean bombed back into the stone age.  TL;DR:  The government would be devoting more time to stopping the disease, including the people who made it.  Are you sure you want that?

As far as people getting barred from and clowned for not taking the shot, it's been happening.  The latest would be Southwest airlines giving an ultimatum of,"Get poked or get out!"

....................Looks like a LOT of them chose to leave and that's got flights grounded all over the place.  Next thing you know, Southwest has released a letter saying that they aren't going to fire people for being unvaxxed.  I wonder why they changed their mind?  They're just one of the bigger ones.  Many shops and restaurants and local stores tried the same thing and a lot of employees said,"okay, I'm outta here."  And let the place(s) rot.  These businesses have learned quickly and harshly that they don't have that power right now.  There are better than 4 million help wanted signs hanging up all around the country and not a lot of people rushing to fill the void thanks to the stimulus money being handed out.  Not only that, but lots of people are making work-from-home a priority.  The brick and mortar idea might be on its last legs thanks to the virus and that is going to put a lot of jobs, like the HR lady, in danger of extinction.  The businesses are learning quickly that they cannot afford to fire people or lose customers, whether they are vaxxed or not.

To end things, I'll ask this question for the record:  Who's tolerating who?  At best you're being tolerated, and you best hope that the people you're "Clowning" don't get tired of you.  If enough of them decide to sit it out at home, the whole economy will crumble and then who's vaxxed or not will be the least of your worries.
