I don't even have a YouTube feed, in the sense that I only watch stuff on YouTube if I specifically went looking for it.

In fun news, my wife's brother-in-law (wife's sister's husband) just found out that his vasectomy of 10 years ago has spontaneously reversed itself.  Like, I knew that was a thing that could technically happen but I thought it was so unlikely it was basically an urban myth.

Lmao deadass. He be straight stone faced while she's bouncing on the dick making noises she never knew she could. They be practically thanking him for such a good lay. Must be awesome to have a sex game like that

Too bad Hanzo will never know.

Also that Youtube advice is fuckin brilliant. Is something ive been working on culling from my feeds for most of the year, Star Wars did a number on my feed, and for a while allit was people bitching about shit they claimed to love but very clearly hate and have pretty much always hated.

Striking that kind of dumb negativity from my feed has been one of the best internet decisions i ever made. Had a "Netflix Castlevania is just plain bad" video pop up in my feed. Struck that shit out and requested to never get content from that creator again. Felt good.

You can opt out if the ping is over 150ms, but they definitely should expand that to allow you decline wifi no matter the ping. My worst match in MK11 was 149 ping wifi 🤣

I don't have a specific video or link to send you, but the basic premise is the same for every game.
Know your options Know your opponent's options Be patient Part of it is game knowledge and understanding what both you and your opponent can do.  In some games you have to be aware of instant air dash.  In others you need to worry about being crossed up in the corner.  You need to understand all the types of things your opponent can do to you and understand the appropriate actions that need to be taken to defend against them.

Once you know what kind of attacks are coming and what  your own options are, the second and larger part is simply being patient and having good defense.  Unless the game you are playing is horribly busted, your opponent's pressure will always end at some point.  In some anime games pressure won't end unless you properly use a defensive mechanic.  In others it's simply a matter of waiting.  If you understand the game well enough you will know where the gap in their pressure exists and be able to get out of the situation or try to counter-attack.

At a basic level it's simply a matter of blocking everything and just waiting for your turn.  A lot of new players often get destroyed because they don't take the opportunity to escape when it presents itself or try to mash their way out at the wrong time.  Just keep cool and you'll get your chance to turn things around.

JWong's The Art of Lame. Its a bit of a lengthy video where he discusses some his approach to playing lame. There are video examples to some of the situations he discusses (risking missing a meaty, avoiding hitting big buttons etc). The great thing about its is that, fighting games having shifts in moments and strategic shifts, he discusses the process of it.

I kinda wish we had more of these types of vids out there. You don't often get to hear the thought process behind a piece of gameplay or a set of decisions. In that way, this one is full of a lot of small ideas you can use to view a situation and review your gameplay with:

I swear, if the digital release costs more than $5 nintendo can grab a spoon to eat my ass. That game should be included with NSO anyways.

Pretty sure that the original FE doesn't even have the triangle weapon system

I like Retroarch.  If you take the time to set it up the way you want you have one centralized place where you can manage multiple emulators/rom sets/saves.

The Vita version was always a little rough, at least for me. It would crash a lot, the controls in the XMB would get fucked up. It was great to be able to emulate stuff on there but it was definitely not the best version. Retroarch has definitely improved a lot in terms of UI from when I first started using it several years ago but they really need a non-programmer type person helping with the UI and options. It's a great emulator but not terribly user friendly.

I don't know how many people play, but I thought we could use a thread for the series just in case!

Imo 5 Special is still the best SamSho game, it has the pick-up-and-play simplicity of the other games but it also has a lot of complexity under the hood once you learn your character more what with meter and time management, State Of Nothingness time slow combos, and just the variety of options in terms of play styles and how to play each character. This is probably the most played SamSho game and you can find players on Fightcade, PSN, and Steam.

I haven't been playing SamSho7/2019 as much but it's a really good game and if you've never played SamSho in depth before, it can be a good way to get your feet wet as a lot of the concepts carry over to the other games. If you can find people with whom you have a good connection, it's fun. Having a fiber connection will definitely help you have a better experience online.

SamSho Discord (has lots of resources for the various games but especially 5Sp and 7) : https://discord.gg/SHs2WVF

Let's Learn Samurai Shodown V Special (Tutorial video playlist I made centered around 5 Special but many of the concepts apply to just about all the games)

Stand Alone. I actually hate Retroarch. Removing it from my Vita was one of the best decisions i ever made for that device. Its ugly and annoying to deal with, setting it up is a pain, and the GUI is fucking BAAAAALLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSS

I actually prefer the MiSTer for the cores they can support. RetroArc allows for multiple emulation cores, but it also does not cover everything.

That it managed to get past Nintendo's censorship policy is baffling

My favorite part of any Golgo 13 story is when he inevitably bones the woman who most recently showed up.

Its always some life changing event for her, while Duke is stone faced and straight legged just doing dick magic like it ain't nothin'.

I agree with Justin that fighting games are mostly the same. A lot of it is space control with your character's moves, knowing your character so well that you can bust out their options without thinking about it, and knowing which of those options is the best option given matchups/situations/etc.

But getting to that point can take a long long time.
