I rented most of the games I played when I was a kid, only buying the games I really liked after playing them.
Besides doing it to test games, there were not many video game stores that sold at reasonable prices here around the 90s, meanwhile there were a lot of renting places with a good variety of games to choose from.
And my parents were to keen to give me and my siblings too much money for allowance.
 
Most of the games I got were usually bought second hand by an aunt on USA that she brought for me and my cousins when she came here on her annual trips to visit her mother/my grandma.
To maximize the collection of games each cousin had different consoles and if not had different games so we could lend them between each other.
 
By the time that the PS1 and PS2 came out I was mostly honoring the old traditions by being a pirate of the caribbean and pirated most of the games by renting them and burning a copy, and buying those that I loved.
 

It should have been a snake, but someone in the original game already had that as an animality. I think it was Shang Tsung.
 
Ditto for Scorpion. Sheeva had turned into a scorpion in the original MK3 so Scorpion had to turn into something else. I assumed they just pick the dumbest example because they couldn’t go with the obvious.
 
This was probably meant to be the MK1 spine rip, but they didn’t have the assists for it so they just blackened the screen. They couldn’t just rip off the head since that would also look bad (for example the heads in Kung Lao’s hat toss just look like a cut out).
 
MK3 had the weakest finishers in the original trilogy, but I can’t hate them. They’re just so stupid that they go back to being entertaining. That and the hundred body parts all the characters had for some reason makes me laugh everytime.

MK - Fatality Thoughts.
 
MK3/UMK3 (1995)
 
Unfortunately, MK fatalities started to decline with this game. 
The pre-existing ones had dumb changes  - i.e. Kung Lao throws his hat and the victim screams multiple times despite the head being severed in the first strike
Some had a cheesy vibe -  Kabal "scares" you to death. 
Some were ok - but didnt fit the character - Jax growing to giant size and squashing you 
 
Most of the animalities had the character morph and just maul them or bite them but not seemingly kill them.
Many looked bad because of the colored 2d image that looked too "2d" compared to the digitized sprites.
Some are dumb bc of other reasons.
 
So here are some of the worst UMK3 fatalities imo.
 
Reptile Animality
 
 
Strike 1 : A monkey? For a character named Reptile?!!????!!!!
Strike 2: It just chases the opponent and doesn't even hit him. WTF?
 
Scorpion Animality
 
Bad enough its not a Scorpion, but a Penguin -which would have been appropriate for Subzero.

Liu is a relatively serious character . Maybe Johnny  Cage would have been fitting if he were in MK3.

Bit random,but ever wondered how nice it is how we can basically open youtube and  see what's up with pretty much any game that we are interested in before dropping money on it ? 
 
How was it back in the day ? Buy a cartridge or PS1 disk and hope for the best. You may or may not have seen a pic or two in a magazine but that's about it 😅

Yeah, that has to be the saddest youtuber thing I've heard about happening in real time. It's a toss up between that and OnlyUseMeBlade's life now. He was a COD youtuber that fell hard into alcoholism and is now surrounded by complete parasites and no-goods. He's like Nic in that I imagine the only people watching them are those who love a slow trainwreck, humanity be damned.

Iirc, that's what Michael Phelps used to take in back when he was training for the Olympics.

I hadn't thought about it in a long time, but it turns out Red Meat is still going.

I love Prime's design in this one over Bay series. It looks more like in the cartoon especially the helmet/face. If it is building over Bumblebee then I'm def watching this. Sadly enough Transformers 2 was my first IMAX movie outside of science films and I wanted to leave the theater 30 mins before it ended
