My technical knowledge is pretty much non-existent but I have a lot of strong opinions. I’m perfect for writing articles for a video game website on the internet.

Increased number of topics per page to 50. Increased number of posts per page to 50.

Main issue is that these days physical releases don't even come with a manual. You usually get one disc, 1 case, and a 1 page paper insert that doesn't even tell you how to play the game.
 
In that case, what's the difference between digital and physical? Not a whole lot.
 
Old games were fun because they came with all that cool stuff. New games don't come with shit anyway.

I don't care about swapping discs. I DO care about owning less stuff in general. I've lived in multiple countries/cities these past few years, and nothing is worse than trying to figure out how to take all your belongings with you on moving day. It's also easier to keep things tidy and uncluttered when you don't have an entire bookshelf/storage bin that you have to devote to games.

The site will be trying a new moderation style, and a new disciplinary system has been put in place.  I have also given you guys the ability to use a new tool called the MEGA DOWNVOTE.  You should read about all of this here:

STAFF CONTENT MODERATION

Mods will mostly leave you alone, but content that blatantly goes against the rules will be promptly edited out by site staff.  You can read the site rules here.
 
 
COMMUNITY MODERATION
 
Site staff can only do so much.  It's up to you to make this site into the kind of place you want it to be.

This is great, but all it really does is tell someone that you didn't like their post.  If you REALLY don't like what someone said and want it gone, you need to use the report function:
 

 
Reporting on MEGASHOCK is not like it is on other forums.  On this site the report tool is used as a MEGA DOWNVOTE.  By using this tool the community can remove content that does not directly go against site rules, but that people don't want to see.  Site staff can help, but it is up to the community to come together and get rid of posts they think are spam/annoying/trolling/etc.
 
Posts that receive enough reports from users will be automatically hidden, without needing mod intervention.
 
To MEGA DOWNVOTE a post using the report function, make sure you select this option:
 

 
The number of MEGA DOWNVOTES needed to hide a post is continually being tweaked.  I will not tell you what it is.
 
 
DISCIPLINE AND PUNISHMENT
 
If you've been bad you will be subject to punishment by site staff.  MEGASHOCK uses a warning system -- every time you are warned by staff your account will gain points.  These points are similar to points you get on your license from a speeding ticket.  As you gain more and more points your account will receive more and more restrictions,  and you may find yourself unable to post for several hours or even banned for weeks.  Points slowly go away over time, so if you are on your best behavior your account will slowly go back to normal after a while.
 
If you've accrued a ridiculous amount of points, done something truly heinous, or I really don't like you, you will simply be banned from the site.  It's my site and I'll do what I please.  ♥️

MEGA DOWNVOTE hides a post if it is reported enough times.  It does not ban the person who posted it or have any effects on their account.

Conspiracy theories might be ok, but racist stuff is explicitly against the rules.
 
This is a way for people to get rid of troll/joke/annoying posts that don't break the rules but people don't want to see.
 
Also keep in mind that this site does have a few official stances on things like misinformation, COVID, etc., so I will be personally moderating certain things that I feel should not be on the site, regardless of site rules. 🙂
