misterBee got a reaction from Pair of Rooks in DLC?! Introducing MEGASHOCK+
Some people have said they'd like to help contribute to keep the site running.  Your time is now!

MEGASHOCK+ is a premium subscription service that will help keep the site running smoothly and ad-free, and allow members to access premium site features.

How will the money be used?
Proceeds will be used to pay for site expenses, such as:
Server/hosting costs Email service costs (needed to send registration/notification e-mails) Domain name fees Forum software subscription fee Forum add-on/application costs McNuggets and McRibs for when I get hungry

What premium features do I get?
Subscriptions are split into two tiers:

    MEGA Pro:
    Get 50MB online storage*
    Access to exclusive themes
    Feel superior to normal members

    MEGA Elite:
    Get 150MB online storage*
    Higher avatar file size limit
    Access to exclusive themes
    Themes never removed from rotation
    Feel superior to Pro members

*Used to upload images.  More file types upon request.  Storage sizes may be increased in the future.

MEGASHOCK+ members are allowed to upload images and file attachments, meaning they don't need to use services like Imgur to embed images.  They also gain access to premium themes, which require a lot more effort to make.

MEGA Elite members get the added bonus of never having to worry about their favorite themes being removed from the theme rotation.  Elite members have access to all themes all the time.

Premium themes are built by hand.  They aren't just GIFs pulled from the internet.

    How do I subscribe?
If that sounds good to you, you can subscribe using the following steps:

Create a Patreon account.  Try to use the same email address you use for the forums. Pledge to one of the membership tiers on the MEGASHOCK Patreon page Go to your account settings page here on MEGASHOCK and link your Patreon account.
If all goes well you should see a MEGASHOCK+ logo at the top of every page, and you'll have access to premium themes in the stage selector.  You'll also gain a MEGA Pro/Elite title under your name.

Patreon will bill you every month, and you can unsubscribe at any time.  After you unsubscribe you will no longer be able to upload files, and will no longer be able to access premium themes.  Any theme you have applied when you unsub will stay applied until you choose another one from the stage selector.

If you have any questions or need help with your subscription, please post in the MEGASHOCK+ Support Thread.

The PC is a powerful tool.  The added power comes at the cost of added complexity, but honestly it's no big deal.

In regards to fighting games there is occasional weirdness with controllers, but for the most part it's a non-issue.  Steam can translate almost any controller to xinput, which is the standard for PC games.  Your PS3/PS4/Switch controllers should work just fine once you set the Steam controller mapping up.  Alternatively, if you own a stick with a xbox (xinput) mode you will pretty much have 0 issues.

A respectable PC will cost 1.5-2x the price of a console, but you'll be able to use it for years and upgrade it over time.  With consoles you buy a new machine whenever Sony/MS/Nintendo tell you to.  With a PC you can choose when/what you upgrade based on your needs.  The added cost is balanced by having way more control over your experience and how much money you want to put in/how long you want to use your machine.

Probably the biggest perk of a PC is the raw performance and game library.  With a PC you get access to emulation, as well as the ability to play lots of legacy titles on Steam/Epic/GOG/etc.  The idea of a 'remaster' is really a console thing, since a lot of them don't look any better than the PC versions of the same game released many years ago.  There's no need to wait for a remaster to be sold to you when you can play the original with newer hardware any time you want.  There are also many games that only have life on PC because they are either never made for console or were originally made for consoles that nobody uses anymore.

I wouldn't recommend a PC to everyone and the new consoles are certainly very powerful, but there are definitely advantages to owning one.  If you want to just play games and not worry about anything then console is still the way to go -- but if you want more versatility, power, and the ability to do other stuff (like streaming/content creation) then a PC is a no-brainer.

If you have everything safely backed up then just turn the computer off.  If the drive gets fucked it doesn't matter.  It sounded like your drive was dying anyway.  Order a SSD and get that PC working properly ASAP.
