You can only embed external images from a secure site.  Most major sites and services (like imgur and discord) use SSL and are secure, but if you're grabbing the image from some dinky blog or something then it may not be.  You can tell a site is secure because you will often see a little lock icon in the address bar next to the site address.

URLs for secure sites start with https:// (note the 'S').

If your link only shows http:// then it probably comes from an insecure site and won't embed.

misterBee got a reaction from Disciple0fAnrky in Melty Blood: Please play it
This is the Melty Blood thread.

Melty Blood is currently my favorite fighting game.  I will play it with you.  I will teach it to you.  I will give you the game.  My desperation knows no bounds.

    Why this game is cool:
Alpha  3/CVS2-style groove system Rollback netcode* Super fast paced, free-form combo system Characters to fit almost any playstyle Large player base Low system requirements (will run on basically any PC) Beautiful 2D animation (even if it's a little low-res) *only available with the community-created edition.  This is the version everyone else uses.  Nobody uses or likes the Steam version.  Ask me for details on how to get it.

    Basic Overview

Melty is a fast-paced game that offers players a lot of flexibility.  The 3 different grooves change how you play pretty drastically -- it's like Alpha 3/CVS2 on steroids.  Some grooves are technical and allow you to have precise control over your meter, while others basically handle it for you.  Some grooves allow reverse beat (chaining light normals after heavy ones), and others are Guilty Gear/Blazblue-style (you can only chain light moves into heavier ones).  Automatic shield counters, spot dodges, just defends -- pick the right groove and Melty will let you play the way you want to.

Different versions of a character will play completely different from one another.  Each groove grants characters completely different move sets, abilities, and mechanics. This means that there are essentially 93 characters in the game (31 characters x 3 versions).  There's something for almost everybody.

If you're an execution monster looking to do some sick loops, there are some characters that will really challenge you -- but most characters are not hard to pick up and learn.  A lot of  characters have pretty simple combos that work well even at a high level.

Thanks to the game's low system requirements and community edition's excellent netcode, this game has a healthy scene.  Unlike a lot of other old games, this one still has lots of new and inexperienced players.

If you're looking for games/want to learn just hit me up or post in here.  I'll teach you the basics and help get you started with the game!

The PC is a powerful tool.  The added power comes at the cost of added complexity, but honestly it's no big deal.

In regards to fighting games there is occasional weirdness with controllers, but for the most part it's a non-issue.  Steam can translate almost any controller to xinput, which is the standard for PC games.  Your PS3/PS4/Switch controllers should work just fine once you set the Steam controller mapping up.  Alternatively, if you own a stick with a xbox (xinput) mode you will pretty much have 0 issues.

A respectable PC will cost 1.5-2x the price of a console, but you'll be able to use it for years and upgrade it over time.  With consoles you buy a new machine whenever Sony/MS/Nintendo tell you to.  With a PC you can choose when/what you upgrade based on your needs.  The added cost is balanced by having way more control over your experience and how much money you want to put in/how long you want to use your machine.

Probably the biggest perk of a PC is the raw performance and game library.  With a PC you get access to emulation, as well as the ability to play lots of legacy titles on Steam/Epic/GOG/etc.  The idea of a 'remaster' is really a console thing, since a lot of them don't look any better than the PC versions of the same game released many years ago.  There's no need to wait for a remaster to be sold to you when you can play the original with newer hardware any time you want.  There are also many games that only have life on PC because they are either never made for console or were originally made for consoles that nobody uses anymore.

I wouldn't recommend a PC to everyone and the new consoles are certainly very powerful, but there are definitely advantages to owning one.  If you want to just play games and not worry about anything then console is still the way to go -- but if you want more versatility, power, and the ability to do other stuff (like streaming/content creation) then a PC is a no-brainer.

Brain F talking about shimmies. He goes over the cycle of decisions you make on wake up in SF5  (block meaty, tech throw etc). he also discusses why not every situation where you have frame advantage is the same as far as shimmying and pressure goes.

This one talks about Devil Jin Fundamentals (and by extension tekken ones). In discussing Devil Jin, it goes into a discussion of restricting movement and why it makes characters powerful.

A long time ago Justin Wong used to write for Eventhubs. Either in one of his articles or in an interview (I'll dig it up later) he said that all fighting games were basically the same. That made me very curious because it was a completely different take on playing fighting games than the general wisdom at the time.  This thread is to explore videos and discuss fundamental parts of fighting game. The hope is to have videos, articles and hopefully discussion that helps you improve overall. Instead of looking at a specific (say throwing somebody), you read and watch relevant info on those types of interactions to help yourself improve.

This thread won't have videos exclusive to any one game or series. As I fill it out, and as I hope you guys help, we can take videos that discuss the aspects of fighting games that are universal and can be extrapolated to other games. If the Street Fighter approach to spacing doesn't help you, maybe looking at it through a Tekken lense will.

Years ago I was playing Soul Calibur 4 at my friends house. I entered a random lounge with Mitsurugi and was just running the table with by forcing people into a 50/50 between Mitsurugi's 2K (which was a low that lead to a knockdown) and throw as they woke up. This probably frustrated a bunch of unsuspecting people on end, made my friend laughed as I explained it, and gave me a massive giggle at the silliness of the situation (yes yes, they could've just crouch blocked but hey, conditioning and all that jazz..and bopping them on the head with a standing B so they quit their crouching, leave me alone, we're thinking conceptually here).

    That is the general idea.

The first post is the Footsies Handbook. This is full of short sentences of elements of playing footsies. Maj went through the trouble of  finding examples for everything too. Any time you feel you have a problem with your ground game, this is where you should go to see what you can add to your game that you may be lacking.

I'll try, and hope you guys do as well, add a description of what is contained in the video or article. That way people can have an idea on their way to looking for material:

    https://sonichurricane.com/?page_id=1702

Next video is on applying safe pressure. It uses SF4 as it main game to explain the concepts. What's great about it is the breakdown of some things you should be paying attention to as you pressure people:
