Yeah, he's really just classic Guile - amazing buttons, sonic boom and flash kick are godlike but he doesn't seem to have a lot of flashy stuff outside of SA2.  Maybe they could give him something in season 2 that would make him more interesting.  Even his SFV version had some more sauce.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a single Guile combo that has a return to neutral-raw drive rush element (though I'm sure there are fringe cases I haven't seen). Seems silly, but training mode with Cammy and Aki, trying to explore the mechanics was where I started to enjoy SF6 way more.

After playing with AKI for over a month here’s my thoughts. I think AKI is a good character. I think her main issues are that she’s meter hungry and basically auto losses once she’s cornered. I think she losses to every projectile character with Ryu/Ken/Chun-Li probably being her worst match ups followed by Cammy. I think she’s goes even with characters like Lily (still annoying) and Marisa (relatively okay). I don’t think she has any 6-4 MU in her favor. She losses the fireball war and when you use her EX fireball she basically is throwing away meter for the chance of a potential mid screen shimmy or cross up and that cross up will only come after EX slide. She’s got a neat command grand that can open people up if they’re sleeping at the wheel but it’s effectiveness isn’t as fear inducing as say Marisa’s special that cancels into a command grad. 
 

Here’s what I think AKI needs to be slightly better. Forewarning I’m absolutely dog shit at fighting games and don’t understand theory crafting so everything I say will probably sound retarded. 
 

1. Expand the hitbox on her level 1 both upward and covering her back side. When dealing with people doing throw bait jumps in or cross ups I’d like to have an answer to it. Right now her level 1 is probably the worst one in the game. I’d also increase its damage. I was teetering on making it fireball invincible but if we need balance then I can take getting hit out of it. If all level 1’s don’t have projectile invincibility then disregard. 
 

2. Extend her hitbox on cr.mp. This is a fairly simple ask. We need a longer poke that can combo into something reliably. Her only longer non command normal poke is her stand fierce and it only links into itself. 
 

3. Make poison status affect force burn out if opponent has no health left. This is a devilish buff and I highly doubt Capcom would do it (pussies) but holy fuck would it be funny as shit lol

 

4. Increase recovery on her poison tendrils.

 

5. Increase recovery on her fireball either regular EX or both.

 

6. Fix medium poison tendril. I don’t know how but it’s a shitty anti air.

Outside of that I really can’t think of anything substantial that she needs since she still has to have some weaknesses.

After watching Broski in the CPT event last weekend I can see this more than ever tbh. I've never seen a character in this game look so utterly helpless in the corner and  he went against a couple Guiles in top 8 that honestly looked really rough.

 

When Aki gets the ball rolling and keeps scoring poison stacks she looks unstoppable, but it looks like from what I've seen it's not something she can reliably set up, especially with how consistent other characters are. 

 

When he got to the Luke cr.strong stuffing all her moves I felt that

Kotaku writers are generally a blight on society. The only one worth a damn was Jason Schreier. He's bit of a hypersensitive prick but he's actually a good investigative journalist. The rest of them are a waste of oxygen.

 

Edit: While not like for like, the Mike Z situation sort of reminds me of the Andy Signore situation (guy that created Honest Trailers). He's a geek that's awkward with women. One woman came at him with a false allegation. Then all his awkward interactions with women in general came up and people looked at them through different lens which made the initial false allegation seem more credible than it actually was. Like Mike Z he ended up losing something he created, but he had receipts. So they ended up having to settle with him. Although I'm not his biggest fan, I felt/feel bad for him. Like the Trevor Bauer situation, his so called friends turned their backs on him, and as far as I know never apologized when the truth came out.

I googled him and the first hit was someone who wrote that he is a cunt for ignoring a source to push his own narrative. Then I googled again and someone else called him a cunt for an unrelated reason. Just thought it's a funny anecdote that everybody seems to agree he's a cunt. I don't know the guy, but considering he's a Kotaku writer, he probably really is a cunt.

Do you guys think Capcom have sort of out themselves into a tight spot in terms of balancing 6?

 

For example let's say Season 2 patch drops and they make major changes to either of the Drive mechanics. But because of how deeply integrated and closely tied all of the system elements are, since there's no Groove like system, a buff or nerf to one of them could cause such a massive domino effect where suddenly another mechanic becomes more dominant or weaker as a result, so that mechanic now also needs to be touched within the same patch or as a rapid update before the CPT season kicks off proper

I was thinking the same thing. If they were, for example, to nerf parry even slightly, JP would be triple S tier.

Just thought it was funny to see him getting dunked on a seemingly unrelated topic.

Also, I think he tries to say that he used to run the website Shoryuken, which I'm pretty sure is an exaggeration and a half. He only wrote some stuff for it before going to Kotaku, right?
