I definitely made sure to sign up. What I found interesting is that the official SF Twitter account mentioned the CBT on 9/18 and then it was also mentioned on 9/23. They may not have as many people signing up as they thought. Maybe Capcom over shot their projections on how many people would participate? If so we all gon eat good.

If I remember right, the site crashed from demand, and they had to announce that entries would be a lottery, rather than on first-come basis. gl to all though!

  2. Re. the CBT and char creation, the SF site has the info tucked away on this page:

    Playable Content
Character Creation (Only possible to create once), Ranked Matches, Casual Matches, Battle Hub Matches, Open Tournaments, Training Mode, Hub Goods Shop, Extreme Battles (Updates daily), Game Center (Updates daily), Challenges (Updates daily), DJ Booth, Photo Spot

    Playable Characters
Luke, Jamie, Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, Ken

    Playable Stages
    METRO CITY DOWNTOWN、GENBU TEMPLE、CARRIER BYRON TAYLOR、TIAN HONG YUAN、THE MACHO RING、TRAINING ROOM

    Avatar Creation
You can customize your avatar that appears in the Battle Hub when you play the game for the first time.
Please note that you cannot save or load avatar recipes, or remake your avatar during the Closed Beta.

    Available Features
Cross-platform play, Control types (Modern/Classic), Commentary (Play-by-Play Commentators: Vicious/Tasty Steve/Aru/KOSUKE HIRAIWA | Color Commentators: James Chen/Demon Kakka), CFN (Fighters List/Replays/Rankings), Online match Fight Request function, Battle tutorials, Battle settings, Photo mode

Quite a chunk - Battle Hub matches makes it sound like it'll be far more easy than the SFV betas to play against friends.

Edit: Glad to see that the CFN is returning too. Was a great addition in V.

  3. The "rival" guy from World Tour gives me major male Chun Li vibes, the bracelet thing and the colour and style of his top. Sorry if it's been mentioned already, each of the two threads I watch here have been moving fast and have merged into one in my brain. Maybe it's just a nod to customisation, mind.

And yes, this build will have Guile, Kimberly and Juri playable.

I've been to a couple of EGXs a bit back, and the queues were fucked - talking about +2 hours for most games. I'd be tempted to get a little group together if they weren't, and London wasn't such a pain in the arse to get to. I did get to play SFV there before it came out though (and beat one of the guys running the booth!) I saw Ryan Hart there, and he's very, very fucking tall!

With it being in London, and Capcom UK being pally with the Winner Stays On group, I hope there's some kind deep dive of the build, with Problem X, Jammerz, Jester and co. giving  it a good going over like in NY a few days ago. It'd be great to see them explore Guile, Juri, and Kimberly.

    Me and a couple others just had a brief conversation with Matt Edwards, some choice quotes that were interesting;

Later down the line they’re doing another ‘expanded build’ which I assume means more characters.

Luke’s design in 6 predated his one in 5 (obvious I know but nice for some confirmation).

The base roster is ‘sizeable’ and he doesn’t think people will be disappointed.

As far as he knows there’s no announcement at Gamescom, just the demo.

Imho with Guy they ever failed at find a truly iconic special, the run was his gimmick but was'nt enough nor the Izuna drop, feels like he never had a truly signature move

I mained Guy for a bit in SF4. Izuna Drop was so much fun, esp the ex version, to catch DPs when "mistiming" a safe jump. Mix in his elbow drop, and there were plenty of ways you could piss folk off - but I agree, there's no iconic special. His lp-mp-hp-hk target combo is probably the closest thing, which is a shabby deal.

I like that Kimberly so far feels closer to Guy's moveset than Y.Zeku, but I'm a bit sad this probably dents his changes of getting in. If she has decent runstop pressure (I don't see it so far), a stupid range on Izuna  (well, if you can at least choose the type), and a great elbow drop that'll be a good start for me.

Do not engage with people on Twitter

The golden rule, for real. I use Twitter as a compromise to keep in touch with friends (I won't use Facebook) and follow comedians, FG players, sports, tech news, gaming, etc. Keep my account locked down, so no weird bots interjecting their strangeness. Doing it that way, I find is a kinda good experience.

I hope we can actively change our battle tag in SF6 like DNFD

Nothing's confirmed yet, but I reckon this is going to be Capcom's crossplay account system for most of their games. I think I remember reading the Exoprimal closed alpha required people to have a Capcom ID. Looks like you can change your name once per month.
