There's a sky island waaaay over in the bottom right corner that I tried to investigate but the moment I started getting close to it and realized what was on it, I started having regrets.  I figured I'd still try to get over there and just let the fates decide what was gonna happen.....The fates decided that my glider wasn't going to make it and I'd drown in the ocean.

Also don't trust the Eventide Chasm...You do not get even a hint of a landing light

That happened to me the first time I entered the Depths.

I was like, damn, how long is this fall? *splat*

    Oh. About this long. 💀

I don't know man. I've heard too many stories of people being able to get friends and family to play thanks to Modern Controls. That is a positive sign, because I've never heard any such stories about any traditional fighting game before. If you only retain 10% of the people that get pulled in by Modern Controls that still a lot of people that you wouldn't have playing your game at all. Between that and netcode that allows intercontinental play, I think SF6 is going to have a long term, casual, player base larger than any game in the franchise. I mean the netcode turns Brazilian Ken's into just regular old Kens. Yeah they still DP all the time but now you can react and punish them. Sorry @Volt

Still got one. That's all that matters.

Poking around in the Zonai Ruins and my ass just discovered I skipped the ENTIRE beginning of the final Sage Quest......

    Fuck me bro hahaha

Edit: Also half way decent tip, if your in need of a particular elemental stone like a Ruby or a Topaz instead of mining for one you can kill a Wizrobe of the proper element then take their weapon to Tarry Town and have the gem removed from the weapon shaft for 20 Rupees. This is a pretty decent early game money making scheme to.

I'd guess you could stick a Diamond on some weapon to shank something, go to Tarrey Town, unfuse it before it breaks and then sell it at full price.

Alot of the BoTW glitches and exploits are nerfed or removed in Tears. Including some speed running exploits.

I had only noticed that they cut Whistle Running, but that was pretty much the only speedrunning tech I used.

Besides that, Link kinda feels like a direct port, including the jump cancels on 2-handed weapons.

That definitely makes TotK speedrunning more interesting now...

I think they'll be fine. It's clear they wanted New Gen vs Old Gen with the 8x8 layout. It works.

What I would like to happen is for them to leak a bunch of character names for S2 or whatever and it includes characters that their audience really wants to play like Bison and NOT like fucking Lucia  (@TWINBLADES seriously?).

Of course Twin would ask for another generic white blonde with a great ass. 🤣

SF3 has the worst roster of any game in the series which is a big reason it flopped lol. SF6 roster is way better just by virtue of having vets ppl actually like.

Edit: Now that I’m actually looking at the launch roster every series that isn’t SF2 is underrepresented so it’s not like they’re singling out SF3.

SFV and SF4 both only have 1 rep, and Alpha series also appears to have 0 reps while being way more popular than SF3.

And that is exactly why the roster is bad. It's not that we got bad characters, we just got the whole world warriors crew and left 3 or 4 of the franchise's games with little to no reps. It's not just SF3, only a handful of the characters in that game are actually worth their salt. I don't even like to play that game. Fuck parries.

But when you look at SF3, SF4, Alpha, AND 5 struggling to have one or 2 reps, while SF2 got all its base roster including absolute dogshit picks like Blanka, you know that's very imbalanced.

That's just absurdly shortsighted and will certainly harm DLC roadmaps.

No Final Fight characters in the base roster is pretty egregious seeing how central Metro City is for world tour. Cody should have been a no brainier

LMAO I forgot about those bums too. How tf do you bring back the Mad Gear nonsense and Metro City but not ONE FF rep?

    Guess Cody wasn't re-elected. 🤣

....I feel like such an idiot and it's mostly due to me still trying to approach this game like BotW instead of thinking more so about the skills that Link has in TotK.  I'm talking about a certain tower in the Necluda region that won't open and Bilson is like "MAN...I REALLY WISH I HAD SOME TASTY MUSHROOMS OUT OF THE CAVE".   SMH....

I was so mad at that. 🤣

I was like "Ain't no damn mushrooms inside of this cave!" Then I got out of it, and then I was like "oh, that's kinda close... 😈 "

    Well played, Nintendo.

The Battle Tali are fucking me up too. I really enjoy the fight until I stun the Talus and gotta Ascend through the finicky bastard. That shit is making me miss Revali's Gale so bad...

Yeah don’t take this the wrong way but you and @Darc_Requiemplaying Ryu of all characters was the weirdest part of the beta for me lol.

Ryu has a throw loop, he was the closest thing to a grappler this beta. 🤣

    As for my impressions...

First things first. The netcode is good.

I played pretty much everyone, the matches were playable, and I honestly suspect that my setup is what made it laggy for me. Misterbee actually called me out because I was talking about it and he was like "It's 1f delay with 150 ping, wtf are you complaining about?" For a Rio-NYC connection, that's actually kind of absurd. The only one that I didn't have a good connection with was @Counterstrike

The game itself is really nice, I pretty much hate most of the Drive mechanics, especially Drive Impact because it's so damn unintuitive to counter now that I haven't played SF4 for over a damn decade now. No armor break specials suuuuuuuuuck.

    I played Ken and Ryu.

Ryu feels the best he's been in a loooong time. It's actually unsettling to actually have offensive options with him after SFV. They did take out a lot of stuff I used with him though, playing him felt like writing with my left hand. Throw loops are life. I'm 100% not playing him if I can help it tho.

Ken feels weird and is kind of a regression compared to SFV when it comes to his specials. Vhozite plays a lot better than me so he can get into better detail why like he did in another post. The Tatsu regression is probably the worst IMO. His new specials are alright, but I'll need some practice to get them down, EX Dragon Lash is great.
St. HK is damn near useless. St. MK covers the exact same range but it's a lot safer in general. I can't cancel Cr. MK into Jinrai to save my life, Lost a bunch of matches trying to stuff Impact with Jinrai and it got bonked too. There's definitely something I gotta iron out in my setup. His lv. 1 is kind of a bust. The range is just too short, he kicks too high, I hate it.

The cool thing about both of them is that they're clearly going to be wildly different from Akuma. Ken's new Shippu Kicks are great to differentiate him on offense, though the EX follow-up shouldn't have been locked to EX.

I like that they did not have any Grapplers in this beta. That means they won't be nerfed before release.

The cabs need a little more streamlining. Having to manually spectate every match sucks. Training mode is absurdly good, you even got presets for AA practicing and everything. Can't wait to get my hands on the full cast, but I'll have to since I only get paid on the 10th 🤣

The character creator is overwhelming, that thing is C R A Z Y.  I had a good time with the game in general.

  9. Went straight to Hyrule Castle after getting the paraglider. Literally on the same Tower launch that got me the map scan, all I needed was some stamina food to make it there.

    Spoiler

Got that TP Zelda bow with the busted range, the Champion's Leathers, could've gotten literally all the high-tier weapons but didn't want to because that would be too broken, got the entire Royal Guard set, the Hylian Shield, two shrines, punked a bunch of enemies, including Gloom Hands...

And got 350 Rupees off two chests.

All that with 4 hearts, no upgrades, nothing. Ran through Ganon's pockets like

So Liu Kang essentially becomes the God of Gods, The only God, and The keeper of Time itself, then he chooses to recreate the Timeline to include warring realms that develop the same tournament format that caused all the problems in his original timeline. Literally could’ve done anything and he chose to repeat history and then punish anyone who doesn’t want peace.

Like he could’ve removed bad actors from the timeline itself and changed the way realms interact with one another.

Who cares it’s a fighting game’s story but the issue here is that it is THE selling point for the game these days. One would hope a little more thought is put into this. The fighting engine seems secondary and in the service of this primary function.

As if we needed another reminder this franchise is dogwater.

    So what is everyone gameplan/progress?

    are you:

    gathering resources?

    stacking up hearts/stamina?

    wandering for whatever?

    completing the story?

    cooking?

    sidequesting?

    anything and everything above?

I think I'll now focus on building my Zonai stuff because I need more battery life Imma farm some spots for stuff but is there a really good stop for getting things? I know the depths have things but anyone have that ONE spot to farm?

I'm going to restart my save if I can get the latest version to run on Yuzu.

    My gameplan is simple.

Fuck around and find out. 🤣

So I went up in a hot air balloon with Impa. She tells me to paraglider down. I look down. I don't have the paraglider yet. As I ponder how I'm supposed to get down, I accidentally slip and fall. The balloon is magically back on the ground and Impa is next to a very dead Link.

Did you find the thing she told you to find in that hieroglyph? I have no idea what to do with that lol.

I just stumbled across very special horse in the Tabantha region.  I do not have the stamina to tame it at the moment but I will come back for it.  If you want to know what it is, it's in the spoiler without telling the exact location.

      Reveal hidden contents

It's a straight up Gold Horse.

As someone who got the Giant Horse straight out of the Plateau in BotW...

That isn't anything food can't fix.

  14. First dungeon spoilers

    Spoiler

    Knocked down the Wind Temple.

Ngl, I'm really disappointed.TotK didn't fix the main issue I had with BotW, but it's still a massive step up beside the music.

Actual enemies inside dungeons again feel good, but I can't help but want a really big, TP-tier dungeon with these mechanics.

The climb to it was iconic af tho. Boss was solid.

Overall, it's a massive improvement to BotW, people will be finding new tech on this game for a decade.

The expanded enemy variety is great. I won't have time to really sink my teeth into it any time soon tho.
