Honestly Jamie's CA in SF6 feels much more visceral than any Fatality I can remember for that same reason. Seeing the opponent's muscles tense when he touches their throat, the look of fear on their face made me wince more than all the eye gouging and face ripping in the recent MK games imo.

MK11's fatalities may be a bit much combined with modern graphics, but they definitely made me wince more than Jamie's super.

I don't think there's anything wince-worthy about it at all tbh.  It's pretty tame by most anime/kung-fu movie standards.

Yea too bad they aren't cheap. My current 165 hz monitor unfortunately doesn't have 2.1, only 2.0.

you need to turn VRR on to not have tearing at 120hz, but you need a hdmi 2.1 compatible monitor for that

DisplayPort is the better standard. On most monitors DisplayPort is usually the more featured of the two ports, since HDMI tends to lag behind.  If you're lucky your monitor will be able to do it through DP.

It's a meme but not completely devoid of truth. I wouldn't call it "woke" but there is something off about this.

There's absolutely nothing about Lily that makes me think she's not going to become a filler character, she's not even Juli and Hawk's daughter. Like if they really wanted a female Thunderfoot, Juli/Julia was always there to be reimagined as a free spirit warrior lady with an actual history in the series.

They could've also introduced a new concept entirely if they are adamant on a new character, and brought back Hawk with a reimagined playstyle like Lily's current.

    T. Hawk wasn't exactly tearing up the popularity charts. Cutesy girl characters tend to be more popular than big buff dudes.

No need to overthink this.  LOL

    Thanks.

I haven't done all of that for the SF6 demo, but I did all these suggestions in SFV and KoF15 a few months ago. After trying 100 different settings, the only thing that managed to fix my issue was number 5. -> setting my 165hz monitor to a 60hz refresh rate. Everything was smooth then for these 2 games.

After reading about the advantages of high refresh rates for fighting games etc. I wanted to try it out because people like Arturo are using 240 or even 480 hz setups for a minimum input delay. But I hoped you can do that without any issues, but when I try any refresh rate higher than 60, fighting games start to look a bit stuttery, the fps is fine and constant at max, but the frame pacing is a little bit off, which bothers me.

    My current fix for SF6: I bought a PS5 a week ago. 😅

But I will keep the discord in mind, thank you!

Be aware that in order to make use of high refresh rate you need to be able to maintain a high framerate.

If you want to use a 165hz monitor you need to be running the game at a constant 165fps.

If you want to use a 240hz monitor you need to be running the game at a constant 240fps.

If you are insane and have a 480hz mointor, you need to be running the game at a constant 480fps.

I'm not sure what the issue you were facing was, but it's obviously refresh related.  Too bad you went the console route.  =[

Guys so can you counter a drive impact with a drive impact? Probly not because then nobody would use a drive impact first I guess.

I'm pretty sure you can.  Raw drive impact loses to anyone with really good reactions.

You can beat drive impact with:

    • Throw
    • Parry
    • Super
    • Your own Drive Impact

What is the drawback, if any, to using modern controls? Less normals available?

20% less damage, and you lose a bunch of normals.

  6. @NeclordI don't know how familiar you are with PCs, so I'll just give some basic troubleshooting steps:

    1. Disable gsync on your monitor and in Nvidia control panel
    2. Disable low latency in Nvidia control panel
    3. Make sure vsync is off in games and in the Nvidia control panel
    4. Disable any framerate limits in games and in the Nvidia control panel
    5. Set your monitor to 60hz.  If it's already on 60hz, then set it to the refresh rate of your monitor.  A lot of people buy high refresh monitors and don't even realize they have them set to 60hz instead of the 120hz/240hz they paid for.

Then try playing games.  If there are no more stutters, then work at re-enabling each of these things one by one until you find the culprit.

Ping me in the Megashock Discord if you need help.

Unless you play other competitive games like CS:GO, Overwatch, Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege you won't need 240hrz. 144hrz will be fine. From personal experience I would recommend an IPS panel. The only reason to go TN is if you want something cheap and/or want an higher refresh rate than 240. If you want more depth about the panel types this buyers guide should help. Monitor Hunter's Fact Sheet. - Google Docs

I think this monitor would be great for Street Fighter and whatever game you want to throw at it.

TN also has the lowest input latency out of all the different panel technologies.

I've been using a 4K TN panel for the past 6 years.  I still game at 60hz.  🙂

I'm curious how the 7900X3D will turn out. It only has 6c/12t per CCD but the CCD with "3D" Cache is going to 16MB per core versus 12MB per core for the 7950X3D and 7800X3D. If anything reviews would be able to simulate the performance of a hypothetical 7600X3D.

Can't read the text, but can read the charts. It looks like the extra cache does help make up for the loss of two cores. It was curious to see if it would beat the 5800X3D. Seems it does.

The new 3D chips will all outperform the 5800X3D for sure -- they'll probably be hideously expensive though. =/

Final update on my old/new PC.  Everything is in working order. The Wifi card wasn't showing up, but after doing some research, I downloaded MSI Center. It was a pretty nifty program. It scanned my mobo, updated all my drivers, and everything is in working order. The built in WiFi is subpar as it's capped at 467Mbps that said, for budget B550. It's pretty solid. The front of my case has 5 UBS ports. 1 USB-C, 2 USB 3.0, and USB 2.0 and I was able to get them all connected.

    CPU: Ryzen R5 5600

    Cooler: ID-COOLING SE-224-XT /w 2x120mm Fans.

    GPU: XFX Thicc 5700XT 8GB

    RAM: 16GB T-Force Delta DDR 3200 CL16

    SSD: Crucial P3 2TB PCIe Gen3 3500MB/s

    Motherboard: MSI PRO B500M-VC WiFi

Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart BX1 750W Bronze

Now that I'm confident it's good to go. I'll consider selling it. I know a few Megashockers are looking to get SF6 on PC. This will hand that no problem.

Shipping is a huge bitch though.

Might have better success selling it locally on FB and getting paid in cash.  Selling it online can be iffy as there are a lot of scammers out there who will try to do Paypal chargebacks.
