Looks like it could be decent. I'll go see it. 👽

Edit: I didn't quote anything, I accidently hit the icon with my thumb while picking the alien emoji. I don't know how to get rid of that shit on my phone.

Tap on the quote box and in the upper left hand corner you'll see a circle with a cross in the middle. Tap that circle and hit back space.

So we still doing the Alien thang eh?

At least Ridley Scott will only be a producer this time

Prometheus was such a damned waste. I didn't bother with Covenant. I saw so called scientist roaming around an alien world with no suits on in the trailer and was like nope. This shit is going to be stupid as hell too.

It feels like the fandom that was never there. I’ve never heard anyone say anything positive about avatar outside of it looks pretty.

Unobtanium is still such a laughably bad name for a MacGuffin. I don’t see how anyone can take the films seriously or think there’s any sort of depth or substance  after that name drop early in the first movie

Unobtainuim is a real world used in the real science community.

https://www.techtarget.com/whatis/definition/unobtainium#:~:text=Unobtainium is a term used, other than not actually existing.

So no it's not stupid. It's a real.word that describes reql situations lol.

I liked Avatar and have found most of the people who shit on it do so by dunking on the actual real science in the movie they dont know anything about, or by saying it's just Dances with Wolves in blue paint and I can easily boil your favorite story down to its tropes and basic narrative points to, that isn't hard.

I'd you haven't met anyone who liked those movies it's because you're purposefully ignoring the people who liked them. They made billions of dollars and got lots of praise, both of them.

If you didn't like them that's fine, but stop trying to fool yourself into believeing that everyone else hated them to. They didn't. Way of Water made 2.3 Billion Dollars. If people hadn't liked the first one they wouldn't have gone to see the second.

Hard to believe Fall Guy bombed so badly. It had all the right ingredients too

Most movies are bombing nowdays 😕
I think Boy kill World also did poorly, which sucks ass, because those 2 are high quality action films (Speaking purely on the action element)

We need more of those, that are not part of a cinematic universe/comic book movie or that are sequels.

They are expanding that universe too fast. How many spin offs are in the work and only ones come out so far?

There is the Continental mini series on Peacock and the Ballerina movie which is supposed to drop this year but I think was pushed back to next year. Plus rumors of the studio trying to make a Chapter 5.

A lot of what makes Davey Jones work so well is so much of the character isn't the CGI at all and is just Nye. Really cool to watch the raw footage with no cgi work done, he did so much work for the animators to build off of.

The CGI intro by Robot for Onimusha 3 still impresses the shit out of me. The buildings used in it are miniatures and they built the CGI fights inside the miniatures.

True, yet the animators had the time to build off of Nye's performance. Couple that with all of the detail associated with light compositing and textures make it an ensemble that holds up well.

I didn't know that fact about the Onimusha 3 intro.

Another one for me is the shot in the 07 Transformers movie when Bonecrusher leaps towards Optimus Prime.

If you watch that scene it's practically perfect. The physics, flames, lighting, shadows and reflections all line up on both the practical and digital elements.

Jurassic Park still has incredible CG for 1993 standards

Agreed. I wonder how many computers melted when making that movie.

Wasn't trying to take anything away from the animators, just saying a lot of why it's soooo good is the actor is still there. He doesn't get lost in the tentacles and the lighting and shit. The animators had a wonderful performance to build off of and it takes all their hard work as a collaboration and just shoots the work into the stratosphere.

I think that's the main takeaway. All of the artists involved made that what it is. Compare that to how things are now with the insanely quick deadlines and you don't get the same type of "magic.

I just got back from Furiosa.

I have only seen Fury Road.

Pros:

Great vehicular action.

Anya is great in the terse badass role. On the other hand, Hemsworth is charismatic in the talkative Dementus role.

Cons

The CG is more "blatant" this time. Fury Road looked  more practical than this.

There are a few times where it was a bit slow.

Overall: 8/10

Fury Road -8.5/10

I didn't realize that the trailer even came out. They really should have stopped at "Aliens"

I do like Alien 3. And the first half of Prometheus.

This new Romulus looks like it could be good,  pretty terrifying hopefully.
