Diablo 3----They do but only so much... it doesn't take long to get to a point where the player character's powerlevel leaves them in the dust.  With any of the "endgame" builds the player character stomps them all pretty easily.  

 

The difficulty still hits as you go up into the higher-tier Greater Rifts, because enemy health and attack power scales up to absurd levels the further along you go in that... the numbers are so insane in Diablo 3---at endgame level in high GRs, a player character could be doing billions and trillions damage and it will still take a while to kill some elites and the boss monster at the end of a Greater Rift. (*note---the Greater Rift system scales way beyond the normal difficulty settings.)  When a character is strong enough to be doing those high GRs, at that point the "regular" Torment difficulties are nothing...even Torment 16 enemies are nothing....though people will still play T16 areas for the crafting/etc. materials.

 

I was playing with my off-season/offline characters (haha something pc D3 fans can't do) on Switch over the holidays; mannnn that Necro I had from a couple of seasons ago that I named "Isaac" was the most godlike character I ever made... the stat "sheet DPS" was so crazy----3-million something DPS just on the sheet....at some times in the heat of battle, my defense points were 1-billion or so 🤣 It was a necro with the Trag'Oul set Death Nova/Simulacrum build.

 

Unpopular Opinion/Blasphemy Time....

I'd be interested in an Elder Scrolls side game where the timeline was much further along... similar to Fable, where the world now has simple firearms tech like flintlock pistol and the blunderbuss....that era is still fine for a fantasy rpg that still has magic and strange creatures, as Fable showed.

This would of course be like a spinoff and not necessarily a main-line title in the franchise though, at least that's how I'd do it.

Yea, this is why the Ninja Gaiden series went multiplatform after Ninja Gaiden Black, action games don't do big numbers on Xbox.

Likely February.  Nintendo track record has always been to have it in February right now.  Hi Fi Rush is the biggest (read: loudest) rumor at the moment on the software side...everything else I've been seeing floating in my feeds for like the past 2 weeks have been about Switch 2 rumors.   Haven't really seen anything regarding MP4 that's made me stroke my beard at the moment unfortunately.  I'm still pretty confident that if Switch 2 does get revealed this year that MP4's reveal/release won't be too far off so we'll see what happens.

I'm still rolling my eyes that that Spider-Man 2 MJ debacle was even a thing. There is so much porn and porn-adjacent material out there you'd NEVER catch me bitching about a video game character looking "less hot" the next game (I still barely see any difference). I'd feel like a fucking caveman even typing it out.

 

But this seems different. This seems like stalker shit. I hope she's safe.

 I hate being an old man on this, especially since some of the crazies are probably my age too, but some of these fools really ain't thought how to act nor can understand empathy for folks that are in different circumstances.

So many gamers are fucking awful people; just spoiled and entitled and thinking they're in the right at all times. I honestly feel bad for community outreach managers at game devs having to deal with these people.

Tbh, this is a general issue of social media allowing a lot of socially inept individuals access to express their opinions.

It isn't a full blown gamer issue as I'm sure the venn diagram of people harassing movie stars for their roles in tv shows and movies has a good amount of overlap.  This is really a whole dif degree of separation now that these people are doing.  She's not even voicing the character as far as I know.  She face modeld and then went on about her life...she didn't expect a bunch of assholes to invade aspects of her life that had nothing to do with this what probably amounted to 30 min-hour of her time.  This is not normal behavior for people who have a modicum of decency in them.

I agree with everything you said here. First thing, don't harass people. WTF is wrong with you. At the end of the day it's a video game. There are more high quality games released than you have the time to play, buy something else. I think I have a back log taller than T.Hawk at this point. You can express your displeasure without harassing voice actors/face models etc. Don't support the developer if you are unhappy. All they care about is your money anyway.

 

As for the first part of your post, for the life of me I don't get the rationale of taking a traditionally attractive characters, hiring an attractive woman to be her face model, and then intentionally making her homely. It makes no sense. You want to be progressive. Hire an average woman, scan her face, and put it in the game. Let her make some money because, lets be honest here, she's not going to have the same opportunities as beautiful model.

 

The divergence between Eastern and Western Studios is crazy. I mean Western Studios will find a 10 out of 10 women. Make her look like a 5 and get a surprised Pikachu face when people call them out on it. Eastern studios will higher attractive people and scan them into their game so they can have an attractive character. This goes for smaller devs like Shift Up (Stellar Blade) to well known developers like Kojima Productions.

 

Side note: I find out it humorous when they were calling out Stellar Blade for having an unrealistic character model. Finding out she's a based on a model and instead of taking the L. They tried to act like she looked like a 12 year old. The woman is 32.

She's comic book character that's been around for decades. Of course she has. Peter has been many things. Not sure what that has to do with them face scanning a pretty woman and then making her look homely. You don't see Turn 10 digital scanning a Nissan GT-R then modifying it to look like a Sentra. They just model the Sentra.

I really think the proliferation of AI is going to be more bad than good. That we'll now get to wade through even more uncreative dreck is just another example.

 

Someone had a Twitter thread about how she was sure they'd used AI to make that new Silent Hill mobile "game" and the results were pretty underwhelming.

I think my point has completely sailed over your head. If you are going to make her homely. Scan a homely woman. An attractive face model is going to cost more than a homely one. On top of that you are spending extra development time and money to make the attractive model homely. The car thing....well that's just weird. I mentioned why Forza's developer would just model the car they needed. People doing things to their personal vehicles is something else altogether. We actually have a thread for that 😅

We don't know when this decision was made, could have been later in development, and they already had her chosen from Spiderman 1, may even be under contract. We have no idea if it would have been easy or not to swap out the irl model. Also have no real idea if Homely models are cheaper then "hot" ones considering it's a look pretty much any woman can have by carrying themselves a specific way, I bet name has more to do woth cost then what yoy actually look like because anyone can made to look like anyone. 

 

It's very easy to say "Hire someone else" but yoy know as well as I do that's not how corporations work. There's paperwork and money involved. 

 

The car thing is weird, it's always bizarre to me when people compare human beings to innamiate objects. Forza gonna model a Ford right because thats what a Ford looks like, they literally come off an assembly line.

 

Do people come off assembly lines? 🤔
