Shell Apologizes for Buying Russian Oil Amid Ukraine Invasion, Says They’ll Stop Energy Purchases

On Tuesday, Shell CEO Ben van Beurden released a statement saying the company made the wrong decision by buying Russian oil. He continued to say Shell will halt Russian crude oil purchases, shut down their service stations in Russia, and launch a phased withdrawal from Russian petroleum products, pipeline gas, and liquefied natural gas.

 

“We are acutely aware that our decision last week to purchase a cargo of Russian crude oil to be refined into products like petrol and diesel – despite being made with security of supplies at the forefront of our thinking – was not the right one and we are sorry,” van Beurden said. “As we have already said, we will commit profits from the limited, remaining amounts of Russian oil we will process to a dedicated fund. We will work with aid partners and humanitarian agencies over the coming days and weeks to determine where the monies from this fund are best placed to alleviate the terrible consequences that this war is having on the people of Ukraine.”

This is straight up insanity, especially since he gave up the card to the cops. Governments and corporations have misused and pocketed funds earmarked for covid relief with no repercussions.

A Georgia man has been sentenced to 36 months in prison — three years — after using COVID-19 relief money to purchase a rare Charizard Pokémon card. The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the sentencing in a news release issued Monday.

The man, 31-year-old Vinath Oudomsine, was awarded an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) for $85,000 after claiming to own a small business that supported 10 employees. These loans were created as part of Congress’ pandemic relief plan, and intended to be used for businesses to pay workers and rent.

Once Oudomsine got the money, however, the DOJ said he used $57,789 of it to buy a Charizard card. A card matching this description — a first-edition, shadowless, and holographic Charizard card with a 9.5 gem mint rating — was sold at the PWCC marketplace for that price in late December.

U.S. district court judge Dudley H. Bowen also ordered Oudomsine to pay $10,000 on top of the $85,000 in restitution and three years in prison. He will have three years of “supervised release” after the three years in prison. Oudomsine has also agreed to turn the Charizard card over to prosecutors.

Irishman Drives Truck Through Gates of Russian Embassy, Yells ‘I’ve Done My Bit, Lads!’ As Police Take Him Away

 

The truck easily breaks through the gates and Wisley can then be seen getting out to distribute flyers he had printed, which showed the heartbreaking photo published by The New York Times on Sunday showing a young family that had been killed by a Russian strike in Irbin, Ukraine as they were trying to evacuate.

 

“It really affected me last night,” said Wisley about the photo.

“I just done this to create a safe corridor for the Russian ambassador to leave Ireland,” he explained his actions. “I want the ambassador and his colleagues to leave this country, leave this free country.”

“It’s about time we stood up,” Wisley added. “That’s my contribution today.” He commented that he expected to be arrested shortly as he continued standing right by the truck with his flyers, and told people that this was why he had done it.

A Garda officer (the Irish police service) soon approached, and told him she had to arrest him for “dangerous driving.” Wisley calmly went with her, calling out behind him, “I’ve done my bit, lads. It’s about time the rest of Ireland done their bit.”

Feeding trolls is one of the dumbest things you can do, IMO. 

 

 

Just because something is legal does not make it right. If murder is legal, would that make it okay?

 

I am down to 20 percent body fat and 150 pounds. I just need to lose 5 more pounds to be at my ideal weight for my height. My goal is 15 percent body fat or lower.

In my 20s we'd always take at least two cars instead one when we went clubbing. Anytime there was more than 3 people in a car we seemed to get pulled over. Basically 4 to car was a big ass no no. We wasted a lot of fucking gas. Thanks racism.

All you need to do is make sure she brushes her teeth, shaves, and has clean stretch marks.

Bible thumping people in this country get so aggravated about stuff that barely has any effect on their own lives but they sure as hell are spend a lot of time and energy making other people miserable and trying to have an influences on others around them.  I'm surprised that nobody has sued these guys for passing a law saying you can't leave the state to help your kid out because they won't allow it.  I can't even fathom the absurdity in this.

McDonalds Shuts Down Its 850 Restaurants in Russia Over Ukraine Invasion

 

“For 66 years, we have operated with the belief that communities are made better when there’s a McDonald’s nearby,” said McDonald’s President and CEO Chris Kempckinski in an email to the franchisees and 62,000 employees in Russia. The employees will continue to be paid, he said, as they “have poured their heart and soul into our McDonald’s brand.”

“Our values mean we cannot ignore the needless human suffering unfolding in Ukraine,” said Kempckinski.

McDonald’s has “donated $5 million to our Employee Assistance Fund, and continue to support relief efforts led by the International Red Cross in the region,” according to Kempckinski.

 

 

 

As I communicated Friday, we condemn the horrific attacks on Ukraine by Russia and our hearts go out to all those affected.

We continue to watch the tragic events unfold and, today, we have decided to suspend all business activity in Russia, including shipment of all Starbucks products. Our licensed partner has agreed to immediately pause store operations and will provide support to the nearly 2,000 partners in Russia who depend on Starbucks for their livelihood.

Through this dynamic situation, we will continue to make decisions that are true to our mission and values and communicate with transparency. Thank you for the care and concern you are sharing with me and your leaders.

Ignore the last part of this clip. Fiat currency will never really be replaced unless everyone wants to go back to the barter system or something similar. hahaha I was just browsing TYT and lo and behold...they have more on THIS story!  So apparently he was trying to talk to her before...and I guess since he got no play...THAT's what prompted him to hit her with the boo-boo bag special....it wasn't just random shit after all... but since the modern American legal system is a joke of course he goes free, apparently... 🤣 

There's new layers of comedy here for me to process now... he also allegedly committed a hate crime against a Jewish guy so there's that going on too (or at least threatened to kill him; I suppose that's a "hate" crime too?)....and what the hell kind of name is "Abrokwa" anyway? oh annnnd he's been arrested 44 times, often for violent situations....
