Street Fighter 6 Lounge: The FGC has a crack problem.

Recommended Posts

Jeah ngl I am fieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeending for more SF6 info. People are saying to wait for the Videogame Awards but that ain't til december. And are CPT finals this year or did that get delayed? But that's usually in december too. Maybe NYCC in october will have something? But it capcom skipped reveals at SDCC I don't see NYCC getting lucky. I guess maybe we'll just get spontaneous teasers/reveals until next year, unless I'm missing something.

Well luckily the beta is coming soon so if nothing else we'll get a lot more good footage and deep dives. Gonna be a good 3 days.

cloud service gaming is meant to be doomed anyway, they haven't got any exclusive that can top mobile and console gaming experience

Even if they did it wouldn't really change a thing because it is inherently flawed and won't ever be able to give satisfactory results for certain genres. Imagine playing a fighting game on a service like this, the input lag would make it borderline unplayable. And as the latency isn't a technical shortcoming but straight up physics working as intended (signal has to travel back and forth between your interface and the server), it's a problem that's unsolvable.

Cloud gaming has a sort-of future I think if it is attached to another service. For example, if you have Game Pass, you also have access to Microsoft's Cloud service which means you can stream those Game Pass games to your phone. That's a nice little bonus if, say, you want to grind in a turn-based RPG during your lunch break.

But a standalone service like Stadia has no future, there's no incentive there for any consumer to get invested in such a limited ecosystem.

I think they would call that in different way later on or a different process instead of just Cloud

kinda like web like web1, web2 and web3.

another thing that mobile gaming has more potential the cloud dedicated devices. so its gonna be more still on mobile still since its about portability

they need to find something that would make them valuable and exceptional than both mobile and console

like streaming service stand out and not just because cinema but also buying physical copy.

so far cloud doens't have what it takes to standout against mobile and console

I randomly realised today that back in 2016, SFV and Overwatch released rather close to each other. A lot of people were playing both and Overwatch was, despite some minor issues, the better product among the two by quite the margin. No connection issues, got every piece of content for free, had some very active PR people and community managers and so on, whereas SFV was just a trainwreck for the longest time.

Now over the span of a couple of months, both games will see their respective sequels release and boy, do the tables have turned. I was looking into Overwatch 2 a bit these last days and it's just the worst kind of disgusting money-grabbing F2P nonsense you could imagine. If you haven't followed it, it's basically a complete 180° to their philosophy of the original.

...I hope I get into the SF6 beta so that I don't feel the urge to boot up OW2 after all.

It's disingenuous to call Overwatch 2 a sequel. It's an expansion pack pretending to be one.

I'll legit cry if I don't get in the beta. I tried for 30 minutes straight to register for it. And howdy folks! Hope you've all been doing great!

Fingers crossed the netcode for SF6 will be godlike.

Jesus fucking Christ is the old guard coming back!? Fuck when I saw your name in my notifications I was like "!?"

In other new I put the Mega shock site in my twitter bio. Gonna be shilling this place when the beta drops 🙂

That shit is hilarious. I dont know how you can up with such a hilariously bad business practice.

The sad part is that the business model from the initial announcement in 2019 was actually really fair to consumers. Overwatch was just to turn into Overwatch 2 with everything carrying over but if you wanted to play the new solo/coop campaign you'd have to buy it. Unfortunately this was formulated vaguely enough to make it possible for them to squeeze the whole thing into a F2P mess without technically contradicting themselves and it's here where it went downhill. What I find particularly disgusting is how a game you paid for (Overwatch 1) will simply turn into a F2P game as soon as you go online (which you have to to play it). I'm sure they protected themselves against any kind of lawsuit via some weirdly worded user agreement but that's a more than questionable precedent they're setting here.

i've been telling people that EULAs are bullshit for what it feels like a decade now. Its absolute nonsense that this is a legitimate business practice being used currently.

The situation with Overwatch is kinda funny though. The whole game feels like a forced meme. It was made on purpose to be an eSport. Then Blizzard sold licenses for pro teams. Then people built "eSports stadiums" for it. Then people complained about the balance.

Now this nonsense. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT.

Did you see where they put some type of encryption on the models to make it harder to use them for porn?

😂
