Open World Racers are fun, but I do kinda miss specifically designed tracks in arcade Racers. We mostly get those in Sim Racers and I find those pretty boring myself.

If they closed off non-paths on open world while you are actually racing then that would be fine.  But I just remember in Burnout Paradise that I'd be looking at the damn small ass map in the corner like 25% of the race and it just made it not very fun.  Same with the Horizon games I played if I remember correctly.

And I played THE SHIT out of Burnout Paradise and got 101% in that game, and finished Horizon 100% as well.

As much as I loved Burnout Paradise, my favorite one is Burnout Revenge.

I agree on all.
I love Paradise, but I also love when games offer a good variety of designed tracks, like Revenge did.
Which imo is like the best in between of both worlds, you have a chunk of big maps with enough variety on them to subdivide them on different tracks to offer variety.

Nowdays it seems that only kart games offer tracks 😕

Yea and I think a really simple fix to that problem is to get rid of the mini map and use the Midnight Club Directional Arrow. That actually required you learn the lay out of the city instead of just staring at the mini map.

There's deffinitly negatives to be had with an open world Racer, yoy kinda end up using a lot of the same shortcuts to so I get it, but I still enjoy them. I think there's room for both.

Honestly the vast majority of open world games of all stripes would benefit from getting rid of their minimal and giving the player a compass instead.

Yea man seems like just sim Racers and Kart Racers make actual race tracks anymore. Everyone else just carves em out of a large open world/urban environment. Thats cool to but it's not the only way to do it.

Stop getting your panties in a bunch.  I know it's not a 1:1 HD remake but it took the premise of the OG one and made the same concept style of game.

But it didn't outside having cop chases, the games are completely different.
What you are saying, specially on your previous posts doesnt make sense, lmao.

Wanting it to be rereleased/remastered, is not asking for a remaster of a remaster.

And it sucked compared to the original one.

Hard disagree.
imo
MW2012>>>>>>>>>>>>>MW2005

I know I am on the minority on that, so dont @ me, lol

What we really need (and I know we aren't going to get it) is a new Burnout game that is not open world.  I'd be happy never getting another open world racing game again.

The problem is that modern Criterion, is the studio in name only.
All the people who made the og games are long gone.
And looking at Unbound, while they seem to be competent, there is a clear difference on the game feel that makes me wonder if they will be able to make a game in vein of the Burnout series, specially on monetization, game progress, etc.

It's really hard to tell if they did anything but they did update at least some of the textures...it's more apparently when they do a closeup of the tree.

Edit: also really curious if Nintendo doing an overhaul of Paper Mario's Graphics made them shoot for 30...I mean the game isn't doing any tight platforming or anything but its weird going from 60 fps GC game to Switch remakester 30fps game.

I like the original sound of Rogueport better...best I can describe why is that it sounds Punchier?  Switch version is has more instruments in it it but it's softer.  It's still not bad but Original sticks out way more especially in terms of percussion.

the seasons in Diablo 3 are still going---- yep, I jumped into that yet again with a new character; already completed the "challenge rift" to start him off with a few million gold and resources, of course.  It's been a few months since I last played this.

...but of course later today or some time this weekend it will be Stellar Blade time as well.  It doesn't take up that much space, at least compared to the typical bloated mainstream game these days (ah this modern era where almost no one in the industry cares anything about compression)... Stellar Blade is 30 gigs.

I don't know what Grummz is on with this one. Classic case of losing the plot IMO. This isn't some licensed property altered by SBI. This is an original game from Abubakar Salim. It doesn't matter if SBI is involved or not. It's his game, his idea, his concept. He can do what he wants with it.

the various live-streams of Stellar Blade have already begun, of course

I woke up at 3am this morning for some reason, my buddy pinged me on Discord. He'd preordered Stellar Blade but never played the demo. He really liked it so far, I would played the game myslef but I had to get back to bed. Had to be in at 7am today.

Yea friend of mine says he's enjoying it so far He seems to have some of the same issues I do with the sexuality and it jiving with the themes and cinematography of the game but he was also still at the beginning so could easily change. I doubt it could ruin the game for either of us regardless. All the reviews from people I trust have been pretty happy with the game to. A couple might be gushing a bit too much, but over all been a pretty level headed response.

I'm more or less really happy people are finally talking about gameplay and the game seems to be more then a Nier A rip off with big butt lol.

.....Why would there have to be....an Africa in a fictional fantasy world....for there to be black people?  Like...the sheer amount of...Let's change some words in this quote to hear how dumb this is.  "Last I checked there's no Japan in Suikoden but yes let's put IRL in a fantasy game"  "Last I checked there's no Spain in Suikoden but yes lets put IRL in a fantasy game"  etc...

It's honestly pretty disappointing to me that imagination seems to have been the biggest casualty of the Internet age. Video games give us the opportunity to enter worlds nothing like our own or that transcend ours in a lot of ways and step into the shoes of characters that aren't like us, and yet all some people can do is ask why these worlds aren't more like the real world.

I feel that it is a direct result of people dividing up into their own online echo chambers. Group think does not spark the imagination.

Its what Darc is saying on top of Keef literally just saying that the people who don't want DEI or like Sweet Baby need to try make sure the message they are trying to say stays clean because there are some people trying to clearly hide behind it with clear racist agendas.  Grummz and some others in the comments immediately went with "HE'S CALLING ALL OF US RACISTS!!!" while providing an exact screenshot where he did in fact not say that.

....Did this dude serious?

And to be clear I'm talking about Grummz not Omni, Omni is clearly being sarcastic.  That graffiti was the only thing censoref about the game and while I didn't find it offensive I also don't care that its gone.  This really has no impact on the game whether its there or not lol.

He (Grummz) is as serious as a grifter can be. As in, whatever brings any shine to him. In terms of digging into his grifts for entertainment, he seems to be a gift that keeps on giving. According to this tweet, dude's selling "founders packs" for his "totally going to come out at some point" game EM-8ER at insane prices:

It's fun to laugh at the grifters, but I sometimes get sad (or laugh harder, it's a mixed bag) at people he milks who take that kinda shit seriously.

EDIT: BTW, he goes all the way in on the game/grift in the thread that tweet is a part of. That's not it by a long shot.

540 hours later on the Switch version of Diablo 3....and here I am back into it once again... my seasonal character "Mold" is level 29 now.  (yep; partly inspired by my amusement about the moldy Fallout 76 helmet; that situation is hilarious forever to me...."mold" in general is also just one of those random things that has made me laugh since childhood....it doesn't make sense; it just cracked me up for some odd reason)

the latest Stellar Blade situation reminds me; I should make a character named "HARD R."

The point iw to maintain the integrity of the original design.

Look I didn't like the sex scene in last of us 2 but it IS by design. Peeps also forget that the game is M rated. 🙃

I get trying to maintain integrity...but I am completely unconvinced that the word "hard" in front of 1 R in a stage with no bearing what so ever on the character, setting, or story is doing much for integrity.  All that being said I took a look to see if there' s anything else that people could potentially be complaining about censorship wise in a game that pretty much as a costume where she's practically naked.

https://boundingintocomics.com/2024/04/26/stellar-blade-director-responds-after-patch-censors-holiday-rabbit-outfit-claims-updated-design-was-always-intended-as-final-version/#:~:text=In a development that suggests,to be its final design.

A lacy undershirt and glasses on one of the costumes and less gore/blood on her after an enemy gets killed to go with the "Hard" being replaced with "Crime".  The gore and blood has far more chance of affecting the integrity of the game more than anything and if that article is anything to go by they may just do 2 versions of that Honey Rabbit costume.  Character has like 30+ costumes in the game but the one the one costume that's already showing less skin than the Hard mode skin gets an undershirt and glasses and its the hill that people need to die on.  I  hope they give both versions of that costume just see if they're gonna keep yelling about censorship.

In under 10 hours on my save file, and 12.6 hours overall on Steam, I have completed Elden Ring. That makes four FromSoft games, the most in my friend group. How’ve you guys done?

You dont do much exploring do you?  You use a guide so you can just blast through the game or something?

This tweet sums up my thoughts. If Baulder's Gate 3 can allow Bear Sex, then who are we censoring skimpy costumes for?

It's hard to take ileither of them seriously. Grummz is clearly grifting for attention imo, and that guy just called an intimate scene between two people porn.

They both sound stupid.

The entire convo around that game is super stupid, talk about the gameplay, its actually good.

Cyberpunk 2077 is on PS5. Their is full nudity in that game. Even male nudity, which typically gets censored harder in media overall not just games. So, Sony censoring Eve's outfits is the height of hypocrisy. Meredith Stout leaves a giant dildo behind after screwing you at the No Tell Motel. I'm about consistency. There is none here. They've also seemed to censor the gore. When I beat the first boss during the demo, Eve was covered in blood. Now there is barely any blood on her. In BG3, your party is continually covered in blood. So much so that it actually annoyed me. Going back to Cyberpunk you can let blow people apart in that game. It seems like Sony pulled a bait and switch on Shift Up and consumers. They let them market the game as "Uncensored in All Regions" then dropped a day 1 patch that censors content in the game. Which is technically false advertising. Again this is why "an all digital future" is terrible idea.

Thirty years ago if you told me that I'd have to buy Nintendo versions of consoles games to the uncensored experience I would have laughed. Then the rating system hit and Nintendo has left third parties alone. If the rating system allows it, they allow it. Sony has gone the other direction. Again, you have NO sense of what their rationale is. I got DMCV on PC so I almost forgot about the ridiculous lens flare Sony added to it. When you save Trish and Lady their nudity was partially masked by a blinding lens flare that had no light source. Meanwhile Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3 have full nudity. Unless I've missed something. The only consistent thing I've seen is that Sony only censors stuff in games from an Asian developer. They seem to let Western developers slide.

Sony's policies just push me further away from buying their platform in the future. I'm already on the fence about the PS6. With Sony going MS and dropping their exclusives on PC. There is minimal reason for me to buy their platform. Right now the timed exclusivity gives the PS5 some value, but if I can't trust Sony to let the developers release their games as is. Then that means nothing.

I've got through all 4 souls games, Bloodborne, Elden Ring and Sekiro. I need to get to Armoured Core next.

You should do some more exploring in Elden Ring though.
