Just finished season 2 of fire force and it seems like soul eater and fire force may take place in the same universe

Oh wow, I need to catch up. Never really got heavy into Soul Eater, but I love Fire Force and I'm a sucker for crossovers

EDIT: I did catch up it seems, so I just need to refresh my memory since it's been a year since I last watched. Curious how they connect the two universes

In regards to the two series.

Spoiler

Fire Force is looking like a prequel. Given the how the moon became the crescent one from Soul Eater, Excalibur being born and soul resonance happening in this latest chapter.

Please Tell Me! Galko-chan Manga Creator Arrested Over Child Pornography

Kenya Suzuki admitted to not being able to control himself in an affidavit

Japanese police have arrested 40-year-old manga creator Kenya Suzuki on suspicion of importing child pornography, violating the country’s laws about importing banned goods.

Suzuki’s most famous manga Please Tell Me! Galko-chan debuted in 2014 and followed the adventures of a gyaru schoolgirl. With director Keiichiro Kawaguchi at the helm, Studio Feel adapted the manga into an 12-episode anime in 2016 (pictured above), which Crunchyroll released in North America. An original video anime was also created for the manga.

Asahi News and Nikkan Sports report that in September and October 2020, Suzuki allegedly imported a total of six illicit photo books from Germany through international registered mail. This July, authorities searched Suzuki’s residence in Funabashi, Chiba prefecture on a separate matter and discovered the previously mentioned six books, as well as another forty books featuring child pornography.

According to Asahi, the books were apparently not for re-sale in Japan, but in Suzuki’s personal collection.

“I couldn’t get my hands on nude photo books of foreign children and I wanted them no matter what,” Suzuki is quoted as saying in an affidavit. “I couldn’t control myself.” He is currently being investigated on suspicion of violating Japan’s Act on Punishment of Activities Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children. (You can read an English translation of the law right here.)

Looks like Galko-chan will be relegated to doujins from now on.

Same and I loved the franchise but fuck dude.

It's certainly an unsettling situation that was legal until not too long ago. In the case of Kenshin's creator, Watsuki, the reports say the DVD's only contained 14 year olds naked and modeling, no sexual acts or anything forced. Shueisha says Watsuki is "living a life of reflection and atonement, but that Shueisha and Watsuki decided that continuing the manga to answer the desires of fans was a matter of duty."

I wanted to read the new manga, I am conflicted.

Lmfao no conflict for me. I don't need myself reading, giving money or supporting anyone who thinks it's OK to be lookin at lil girls. Like their is absolutely nothing I'd have an interest with from some lil girl.

Da fuck is their a conflict about? There's no way a Manga is worth it.

Any jujutsu kaisen fans? The creator apparently has way too much time. And has a pretty active ig account. Don't generally see a mangaka actually use their ig so it's good for an artist like me.

Jujutsu Kaisen is great, definitely waiting on a new season. Show is original and at the same time reminds me of some of the best elements of YYH, Bleach and Naruto.

I see more hxh than yyh... Especially because of how he works his power systemwith so many fucking rules. The culling games is basically a hxh arc on acid lmfao.

I do see similarities with in naruto with his big three but putting alot more effort in the females of his series.

I say YYH, cuz alot of themes and ideas Togashi used in it were basically basically perfected in HxH. Like, Chapter Black was basically a beta for all the shit the would eventually go down in the Chimera Ant arc, things not being entirely black and white. For some reason Idk why interchange the two series, bad habit I guess

And Naruto definitely borrowed alot from HxH, with the Chakra system and Sasuke's similar backstory to Kurapikca.

And Im not sure if I've gotten to the Culling Games arc yet, I think the anime episodes I watched ended on like episode 20 ish. Don't spoil it Lmao

Oh you definitely haven't.

Spoiler

Honestly I bounced off the manga with the culling game arc. Shit got darker which after the last arc is saying something but the amount rules to the event left me confused upon my first reading so I gave up. I will wait for it to catch up in the anime years from now when I can also get verbal and better visual assistance to help me understand.

I view sauske story as an amalgwof Jewish and African history. Especially when you get into the fears about their rising to power and pushing them  into a ghetto. Even the police symbol looks similar to the Jewish star.

Sorry culling games is in the Manga.

One of the most interesting things is the groundwork he's laying for the future specifically around itadori and megumi

Spoiler

It's clear sukuna has plans for megumi which clearly can't be good. He's not gonna be a partner for itadori.. He is 100% evil.

Also my fave theory I've heard is the idea the reason why itadori has a hero complex is because his grandfather may have accidentally cursed him on his deathbed. Its clear itadori has a mind altering power where he can implant memories and that whoever his parents were most likely curse users.. He may even come from. A strong line of them. But him. Being so gun ho about saving people to the insane detriment and his conviction and pain when he sees others dies. May actually be because he was cursed.

I think I might be the only person in the world that doesn't like HxH. I hear so many great things about it, but by 50 chapters of the manga, there was really nothing that hooked me.

I watched a coupke episodes.

Eh.

I really think about this dumb line way too much. Like he's fucking 5'8 and so is she.

Is it a big ass to him or compared to Japanese girls. Like wat

You're overthinking this. Bruv remember this is a manga so of course our main guy being Japanese lacks the full knowledge of what may be lying outside of the country. Then again there's no world standard for what is considered a big booty. 🌍🙃🍑

Do you think when a Manga makes modern references that are blatant it takes away from it being timeless vs a show that's subtle about it

Like jujutsu kaisen makes very blatant references to things like movies ie. Castaway or actors ie Jennifer Lawrence

Whereas you got Mangas like jojo's bizarre adventure that are more subtle about it. Stands being named after bands.. Song titles. Characters being based off of celebrities, artists, shit even models.

But alot of those aren't as clear unless you read arakas interviews or know the reference clearly.. Like with say jotaro kujos being based alot on clint Eastwood.

Do you think either take away from its timelessness or one or neither?

It depends on the context of the series vs the references they're making...

By comparison JoJo makes references that are parallel to the time period of the story. It's done in each part. The bands/celebrity references were there since day one so it was made integral into the fun of the series. In Jujutsu, eh, the line felt like it will be forgotten in time only to be recalled in memes. J Law isn't going to be that timeless (heck she's fallen off the map once the Weinstein went down a few years ago). I think the J Law line takes away from the world of Jujutsu IMO...but that's just me.

Late but is it bad that i saw this and thought about Joey Ryan?  The guy whose main claim to fame is a stroy about a busty teen and her entourage gets caught with something like this?  Sometimes the answer is right in your face.

Nah I always find it jarring when they make some. Contemporary reference.. It takes me out of the world.

Imo that's why alot of fans in the 90s and early 2000s hated when dub companies took liberties with localizations. Like alot of the time sailor moon would be referencing something obscure or a Japanese celeb thing and the companies would think we wouldn't get it. So they often times changed it to something from America.

I started watching the third season of Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon. Man, did I ever miss Bell and company and Hestia's MASSIVE... personality.

My Kamen Rider manga arrived and the sucker is an Omnibus!! 850 pages of Shotaro Ishinomori manga goodness. I've actually never read Kamen Rider. Saw a few episodes of Saban's Masked Rider, which is how I found out about the series. If Cyborg 009 can get this same manga treatment, that would be awesome. All the original English releases have long been out of print and I would pounce on some hardcover editions.
