I watched the first two episodes of the Netflix Resident Evil show. This is not RE and Lance sure as fuck ain't Wesker. You are not telling me this hard working family man is Albert Wesker. Fuck outta here! I think this angle would have worked better if it was William Berkin and his family. The games never gave us any insight into his family life so whatever the creative team could make up would have worked. 

 

I'm not liking the flashback storyline at all. Jade is an unlikable tryhard cunt. Billie is fine but that PETA crap knocked a couple of points off. The meeting at the principal's was fucking dumb. How that pissant going to get Billie in trouble when there's an instagram video of her assaulting her in the cafe?  She had no case.

 

The 2032 storyline works better for me. The two episodes are solid so far but this shouldn't be RE

So the first Deathsmiles game ended up being the SHMUP I breezed through instead of Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, which I haven't picked up since Wednesday night after the beating it gave me. Loving how there are multiple versions of Deathsmiles in this collection, including the pixelated arcade version. I'll eventually get to Deathsmiles II but I wanna play through the first with all the characters and the various versions.

 

I went to this place called Arcade Legacy where you can pay a low cost and get two hours to play arcade games. For the first time ever, I got to play Aliens vs Predator beat 'em up on a cabinet. OMGGAMEISSOFRIGGINGOOOD!!! I also got to play Akranoid with the paddle roller. Which... is surprisingly harder than I imagined it would be.

 

I picked up four old issues of Nintendo Power. Vol. 21, which covers half of Star Tropics as well as the entire TMNT II: The Arcade game, Vol. 22, covering the later half of Star Tropics and Metal Storm. I always thought the cover for that issue was cool so I grabbed it. Vol. 15, a strategy guide covering Ninga Gaiden II. I didn't even know they had a full blown guide for that game back in the day. And finally, vol. 36, which covers Darkwing Duck and Contra III.

I watched up to episode 4 of Netflix Resident Evil. More material from the games are slowly coming into play. Also some nice references and Easter eggs

The original outbreak in the original Raccoon City happened in this show and in the same year of 98. Unlike the game Umbrella and the US government successfully covered up the incident. Apparently a gas leak completely wiped a city off the map😂

 

Also Wesker died in 2009 (lines up with the timeframe of RE5). The Wesker of this show is likely an imposter. Jade and Billie don't exist in any official documentation. Plot thickens.

 

Baxter uses the master of unlocking line when breaking out of his cell. He uses twin lugers when he manages to grab some guns. Clearly a callback to Steve from CV

 

Jade barricade herself in a barracks to protect herself from a horde. The place with filled with supplies and an old typewriter. Clearly this is a save room.

The real challenge in Deathsmiles comes when you play for score rather than survival because killing certain enemies with different shot types yields more points than others and then add to that the fact that letting the times bounce and subdivide into smaller items in Power up mode takes some strategy especially in areas where there are pits they can simply fall into. 

 

This changes depending on which version you're playing too. Arcade/Normal modes, you want to collect the items before they hit the ground and subdivide when not powered up. In 1.1 you want to let them bounce both in regular and powered up mode.

 

Imo MBL 1.1 is the best mode since you have all the characters and levels and the new scoring system which, imo is better than the old one (although this game is really fun no matter what mode you play.)

Honestly it’s probably the tamest news given what’s happened with Smashers. Still awful though.

 

Hungrybox was able to get Top 8 at a Smash event. However days before he was going to compete, he ended up coughing and/or vomiting blood. He checked himself into the hospital and the doctor said it may be COVID or a bacterial infection. This came straight from a post from him. He would end up deleting it because everyone was criticizing him.

SMH....Well..at least it's not the other shit this time  (which is kind of sad that we have to put this in perspective like that....HEY AT LEAST HE'S NOT SEXUALLY HARASSING MINORS! *does a jig*)  but yeah this is still fucked up.

He shouldn't be Perma Banned, I believe in second chances and giving people the chance to learn a lesson, but I also believe in proper punishment, and a year ban from all events I feel would send a pretty good message that we really aren't fucking around, this is opportunity for you collect yourself and reflect.

that’s why I didn’t say he should be permanently banned. Just until the community says otherwise. I agree with the year ban.  but to me that should honestly be the minimum amount of time he should he banned

On ep 6 of this show and Apocalypse Jade has done something pretty fucking stupid.  Again, characters doing shit in this series and not respecting the virus despite knowing full well what it can do.  Which makes what she does near the end of this episode even more fucking dumb and it leads to the inevitable.

I braced myself for dumb fuckery as soon as she fished the zombie out the water. I was hoping she would get fucked her instead of her pregnant friend. I hated the fact no one did anything with her body. Dump her into the ocean! You are risking an outbreak just leaving her there

In the middle of the last episode...had to pause for a moment because the main CEO of umbrella made choice that I wasn't expecting the character to do in that moment based on the information we've been presented about her character.

So...Billie fucking flips out cause she's having a T-Virus episode while they're trying to escape Umbrella's facility pre apocalypse and she ends up biting Jade's love interest who is the CEO's son.  The CEO finds them with her Umbrella guards and she suddenly has the realization that her son is there amidst all this and the son tells her that Billie bit her.  So Wesker shows up as the CEO has just been given this information and tell her that "I can fix your son but you gotta let my kids go".  I mean that seems fairly logical considering that Wesker is supposed to be a genius and he has 72 hours to find a way to fix the situation.  Fully expecting the CEO to end up hurting SOMEONE but was not expecting a no hesitation head shot on her on fucking son in that instance.  I know I've been shitting on character not taking the virus seriously  in this show but this was such a rash decision in the moment.  She didn't even DREAM for a second of the possibility that her son could potentially be cured...IN THE  UMBRELLA FACILITY THAT THEY'RE IN CURRENTLY.  Lock him down in a room let Wesker work and if he got to the final hours then start putting a bullet in him.   I know this character has been is the head of the mustache twirling evil corporation but she's shown at least some compassion to her family despite fucking drugging her spouse.   Hell we don't even know if Billie biting someone would have completely passed on the T-Virus since there was something weird as fuck going on with her interactions with it...like she's infected....but not? 

 

I da know this show is under cooked lol.   I just got through a scene with characters had a weaponized T-Virus Kaiju Alligator that Apocalypse Billie fucking stared at for 5 seconds as it was coming towards her to say "Fuck!" followed by the next scene of her running.  And before that the CEO was beset by a hoard of what seems like never ending zombies since Apocalypse Jade developed a pheromone  to attract them  in order to give her a chance to escape and Apocalypse Billie just uses these Drone guns to shoot EVERYTHING within a radius of her...INCLUDING THE FUCKING BODYGUARDS HELPING TO FEND OF THE HOARD.  *face palms*  I also now know the full context of why the CEO was doing that dance number in that clip online...its better on context but it's still dumb lol.  I would have much rather have seen more Blade Wesker in this show cause I think that would have been interesting to have Lance take a real stab at that character but he's wasted in this show and he can't save it.  He's acting his best here but he's ripe strawberry sitting on the top of a shit cake.

It's fucking comical just how many Umbrella goons just spawn out of nowhere. When Umbrella shows up at the University it's shown that Billie brought enough guys to serve as a security detail. Whenever we see zombies kill the goons, Billie shooting her own people, they just spawn more than what she was shown to have. Even when she confronted Jade and Bea like where did those three goons come from?

 

Bea being the zombie beast master made no sense. Like there was no build up to it at all. It was something that just happened. Bea wouldn't even need something like this to justify Billie kidnapping her. Being her niece she can just her blood to keep herself alive.

 

I hated the pre apocalypse storyline of this show. Teen Jade stayed an insufferable cunt that whole storyline. I hated her so much I actually cheered on Evelyn bodyguard when he made it clear her usual bullshit will not work.

 

I liked Bert. I wished he was introduced sooner so pre apocalypse had more likeable characters.

 

@Sonichumanv Evelyn not taking Wesker's offer to fix Simon made perfect sense to me. Wesker always hammered into her the dangers of Joy, the infection and all the nasty shit associated with the T-virus and she never bothered to give him the time to fix it. She gave him a skeleton crew as an antiviral team so he can work on as overtime. Knowing that Wesker wasn't able to fix the side effects of Joy in the two months it was set to launch there was no way he could have come up with a cure in 72 hours. She knew her son was fucked so she didn't bother with hope.

I'm not sure what to make of this show. I like the post apocalypse stuff, and the way it worked the elements of the games. Pre apocalypse story is straight up trash.

Y'know, with this whole Wesker Chocolate Edition we have here.... Sometimes I do wonder if certain somewhat famous people like Campea actually do have the opinion that casting doesn't matter...or are they just bullshittin'.  You know some of them are probably lying....perhaps to seem virtuous and better than the unwashed masses... or at least avoid sounding racist, maybe to sound more liberal than what they truly are, etc. etc.  Then again maybe they do genuinely have that opinion which is just infinitely strange to me; I could never agree.  

 

It's like any other physical thing being incompatible, imo.... it's as strange as casting a big sloppy fat dude as Superman or any other superhero since most of them are drawn to be ripped or at least in really good shape....no one would take it seriously; they'd assume you're producing a comedy if you got some guy with the physique of Chris Farley or Sam Kinison to be Superman.... or if you got comedian Bruce Bruce to play Black Panther....or Gabourey Siddebe to be Storm.  What about the age being incorrect----e.g.---let's have one of the Stranger Things guys cast as Gandalf... or perhaps we get Jaime Lee Curtis (who is actually going to be Tannis in Borderlands, btw!) to be the teenage Jubilee on X-men....or old-ass Robert Englund to be the kid version of Franklin Richards.  No one in their right mind imo would would take these incorrect, amazingly shitty casting choices seriously for even 2 seconds.  To me, getting the race wrong in casting is just as "incorrect" as anything else visual that is immediately noticeable to anyone with working eyes.

 

*edit---if they ever go for a live-action Devil May Cry---get ready for the swap there too, as they likely would want to get Michael B. Jordan to be Dante, of course.  The real silly shit is that they'd be dumb enough to allow Vergil to still look like a white guy....

When the Alligator stopped attacking Bea and decided it was just going to lay down beside her I was literally screaming "What!?"  multiple times as it was happening.  There was nothing to even hint that it was a thing at all, no flashback to even attempt to put that info in after the fact either.

 

And I get what you're saying but considering that Wesker had been telling her about the dangers of the drug before and it didn't stop her from using it on her wife and selling it to the board.  I would have thought she would have at least given it some thought and hesitated especially since that was the first person Billie had ever bitten.  She knew the virus was in her blood but it wasn't correctly effecting her like everyone else but she had no hesitation in shooting her son in the face.  She could have locked him up in a facility in the lab especially since they were already there to at least give the benefit of the doubt.   But considering some of the dumb choices people have made through the show it probably would have been for the best cause I can easily see some umbrella guard opening the room after 72 hours and getting bit like a jackass.

Also concerning the final episode...Kinda really annoyed that they are gonna try to teaae a character from the games for the 2nd season.  If this show somehow geta greenlit for season 2 I'm going to be extremely surprised.  This was worse than Halo and Cowboy Bebop for me.

 

Sometimes watching garbage and knowing what you're watching is garbage can keep you grounded from making hyperbolic statements on stuff that is actually not that bad or is actually decent.  This reminda me...I'm gonna have yo actually read that Gamespot review to see how the hell they got to 9 out of 10.

Since it takes a massive overdose of 20,000 pills to turn a human into a zombie Evelyn saw that as a greenlight to drug her wife. 

 

Nothing short of cryostasis would have saved Simon. The best thing Wesker would have to work with is studying Billie's blood and figure out how her cells is repelling the virus to develop a vaccine.

I'm making some good progress in Elden Ring. I'm leveled somewhere in my mid 20s and I've beaten several bosses so far. Last night I took down the boss of Morne Castle and this other fucker I had to teleport to get to. I think his name was Forlorn Hound Evergaol or some shit. Both those guys gave me some big ass swords I can't use, but that's ok because I like my samurai sword better.

 

I'm gonna explore a bit more before heading up to Stormveil Castle and taking on the final boss of the game, Godrick.
