The MEGASHOCK Saloon Thread 3: Chinder Chagger Edition

Recommended Posts

I made a classic baked potato for dinner.

butter, freshly grated cheddar and Parmesan  cheese, green onion, garlic butter crouton crumbles, bacon bits (not store bought), and sour cream.

Before baking them I poked holes all around the potatoes and the lightly brushed them with olive oil with salt and pepper mixed in it.

425 for 50-60 minutes depending on potato size.

(I know what you’re thinking: “Stu, that’d go great paired with a nice steak” Well, While I agree, it probably would be, I dislike steak and red meat in general. So….)

I absolutely hated when my mom did the whole call me but don't say what she wanted just to make me come to wherever she was in the house.  DROVE ME NUTS.

Can confirm this is a Pakistani thing too. I can't say "what" or "huh" or even why in Urdu; "kyah?"

I can only say "haan ji" (which is 2 different ways to say yes, translating to "yes, yes,") or "Ji, Mama/Baba." Alternatively you can say "I'm here!" in Urdu, but that's dialect and means you're actually on your way and practically there, so wait up. It's polite.

Man, I can't imagine saying, "What?" to my mother. It's GGs right then and there.

Hearing George Lucas finances secret movies he's made and only shows his friends is fucking hilarious when you think about the actors.

Imagine getting excited to work in a Geore Lucas film.. Only to find out you can't tell anyone. Here's a big ass check, an NDA and experience bitch.

Can't put that on your resume or imdb

Some of these live-streams on youtube are just out of hand at this point... I noticed one from a channel I actually like to check on occasion was going for 7+ hours the other day.... I understand their obvious incentive to keep going, of course but there's a certain breaking point for me where it's just too much time sink going on there for the viewer.  Another channel I saw had a good stream going but I actually fell asleep, then woke up and watched something on Antenna TV for a while...came back to youtube and noticed that same stream from the previous night was STILL going...they were nearing the 9-hour mark....c'mon bruh 😆  They were getting around to super-chats at that point.  There's some review/roast session of Black Widow I noticed in my recommended recently... and it's about 4 or 5 hours long.... they've hit "Peter Jackson movie" status at this point, folks.....sometimes I'm down for it if it's an especially juicy topic I'm interested in on a channel I like but other times....ehhh I just can't do it.

I dont really feel like watching streams of anything.

For movie reviews, if its more than 10 minutes, I zone out.

Agreed. Unless it's a deep-dive (e.g., Full-Fat Videos, Nerdstalgic, Just Write, and Nando v Movies), it's a pointless exercise. If it takes you over 20 minutes to give a reasonably formed summary about why I should or should not see a film, you probably have a shitty take on it anyway (positive or negative).

Yeah, that 4 hour-ish one I mentioned is Mauler... even at that ridiculous amount of time, it's still funny/entertaining to watch someone point out all the stupid things in a show or movie sometimes... buttttt that's just....sheeeeittt, that's too much.  I watched some of it already but it's doubtful I'll continue on that....and as some of you can guess I probably have a better tolerance for these marathon-length videos  and streams than most people 😆  Really, the sweet spot to me seems to be like about 1.5 to 2 hours on a live-stream before I start wondering when they're going to wrap up the show.... just in terms of other forms of entertainment, there's a LOT of other things we could all be enjoying in terms of games, tv, movies, etc.  I get why they keep going for as long as possible though... why stop a show when that superchat and streamlabs money just keeps onnnn rollin' in?  On one of those shows going over the details of Fresh & Fit---apparently the top superchatted show in the U.S. right now---apparently they made $25,000 one month JUST on the superchats!  Holy shit man...I realize YouTube takes 30% of it though.

anyway......it's a bit similar to the typical radio morning "zoo" shows like Howard Stern back in the day... Stern was on from around 6 am to 10:30 CST if I recall.

That's the thing for me. There isn't that much information/content in that movie to even devote that much time. It's like listening to a singles cut of a track with all the remixes set to infinite repeat. That movie was "generic female protaganist does things because focus group said money".

Agreed. I just wrapped up No More Heroes 3. The game is batshit stupid and I enjoyed it 🤣.

That dude can't be right in the head.  Dude straight up pulled his truck over to stop whatever he was doing to harass the news reporter.  Unbelievable.   Hope they catch his ass.

This is random, but what do you guys feel is the best cash sharing app (venmo/cashapp) out there? I'm not on one, partially because no one I interface with uses one that I know of. Still, what's the one most people use?

I use zelle due to it being integrated into my banks app.

Why this situation continues to be debate epitomizes what's wrong with society today. You can feel however you want about something but that doesn't change the facts.

Sexual Dimorphism is an actual thing. I get that people want to be seen for who they are, but there is enough science out there to support why this is a bad idea.

It's random, but crazy to think that that Jeopardy guy (Mike Richards) would still have a job if he just Executive Produced like always and didn't try to become the host of Jeopardy. The more I look into his situation, it seems that's the real core of why that weak shit they had on him toppled him. The fans didn't want him as host. I bet money that if Levar Burton had become host and had similar accusations, nobody would have cared.

this 3-day weekend is definitely needed.  The level of general mental fatigue at the moment is off the charts.  I can't really take time off that often due to my position and responsibilities....and this week is even more hectic than usual.  There's days when I fall asleep soon after logging out, then wake up and I still have that general feeling of just being tired and drained....and of course certain people (Dad) are just not a good option to speak with about that, for various reasons.  (*I'd rather not have my blood pressure spike up to 6000/3000 trying to tolerate whatever he spends 5 hours to say about that) If I could sleep through the entirety of tomorrow then *maybe* I'd feel recharged....even that much is a "maybe" at this point.

AM is on live at the moment --about Mercedes Moor situation so this might be interesting...

damn her ass was somethin'.... quite a shame about those tattoos though. 👎

Male ‘Girlie’ Behavior Banned: China Crackdown Kicks ‘Sissy Men’ Off TV

china-tv-640x480.jpg

President Xi Jinping has called for a “national rejuvenation,” with tighter Communist Party control of business, education, culture and religion. Companies and the public are under increasing pressure to align with its vision for a more powerful China and healthier society.

The party has reduced children’s access to online games and is trying to discourage what it sees as unhealthy attention to celebrities.

Broadcasters must “resolutely put an end to sissy men and other abnormal esthetics,” the TV regulator said, using an insulting slang term for effeminate men — “niang pao,” or literally, “girlie guns.”

That reflects official concern that Chinese pop stars, influenced by the sleek, girlish look of some South Korean and Japanese singers and actors, are failing to encourage China’s young men to be masculine enough.

Broadcasters should avoid promoting “vulgar internet celebrities” and admiration of wealth and celebrity, the regulator said. Instead, programs should “vigorously promote excellent Chinese traditional culture, revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture.”

Xi’s government also is tightening control over Chinese internet industries.

It has launched anti-monopoly, data security and other enforcement actions at companies including games and social media provider Tencent Holding and e-commerce giant Alibaba Group that the ruling party worries are too big and independent.

Rules that took effect Wednesday limit anyone under 18 to three hours per week of online games and prohibit play on school days.

Game developers already were required to submit new titles for government approval before they could be released. Officials have called on them to add nationalistic themes.

The party also is tightening control over celebrities.

Broadcasters should avoid performers who “violate public order” or have “lost morality,” the regulator said. Programs about the children of celebrities also are banned.

On Saturday, microblog platform Weibo Corp. suspended thousands of accounts for fan clubs and entertainment news.

A popular actress, Zhao Wei, has disappeared from streaming platforms without explanation. Her name has been removed from credits of movies and TV programs.

Thursday’s order told broadcasters to limit pay for performers and to avoid contract terms that might help them evade taxes.

Another actress, Zheng Shuang, was fined 299 million yuan ($46 million) last week on tax evasion charges in a warning to celebrities to be positive role models.

How long before Hollywood starts making pro-China/pro-communist movies to be able to stay in the market?

Ships sailed. China was already starting to lock out US films before this latest lock down. Disney's kissed China's ass the most and they've been getting denied. Shang Chi isn't even getting a Chinese release as far as I know.
