why isnt there a political thread btw? im ok with no bad police thread..but no political thread is no funsies

As someone who was among the people with the most posts in several of those political threads, talking politics with people if you are t getting paid to do it is a waste of time and just makes people mad at each other for no reason. Might as well just punch yourself in the dick.

Anyone in here still "wash" their chicken before cooking? It's something that I stopped doing around a decade ago.

I was prepping dinner tonight and thought back to a conversation my mom and I had when I was making a meal for them one night.  Just wondering if this is still a thing.

Yeah I give it a 5 min soak in white vinegar. But some people go the extra mile

The mask couldn't contain the raw sex appeal and charm you were giving off without even knowing it. Hope you use your new found power responsibly out here.

I'm wondering something random, and I think I know the answer. I just want to confirm.

I've seen in a couple videos where people call out their detractors on twitter that they blur the names. Why? The content of the post is still there, and all it takes is going to twitter and typing those words in. I'm assuming this is a liability thing in case people end up doxxing that user name or something. They can say "hey, I blurred it out". But isn't the content unique enough that people can search for it and find that person still?

Gods, I hope so.

The change has been a long time coming.

America 2021: "Hey, about the law... you know - the actual, written legal mandates. Yeah, we're going to finally start enforcing that stuff. When caught on video."

The attrition caused by the ambivalence I feel... I am angry that I feel happy because it is an actual victory, in light of decades of the actual law being disregarded by its gatekeepers, as opposed to its being a mere matter of course, in light of absurdly criminal circumstances that ought never have ever been afforded the chance to manifest by the institutions themselves.

There are whole host of reasons why I don't think much will change as a result of this.

Oh it will. You're gonna see a lot of resignations and retirements for start. Being a law enforcement officer (LEO) is a severely underpaid job. Risk vs. reward is gonna kick in and with the fact you don't have a "Get Out of Jail Free" card anymore, the talent pool is gonna shift. I got close family and friends who are in the profession who watched this play out and stated policing is about to change.

Body cams are gonna become more of a requirement now more than ever. However, LEOs are at the end of the cycle. Laws need change to make this work.

. . . . and we're gonna see Chauvin's verdict face as a  new meme.

There's definitely gonna be people walking on eggshells for awhile.

For example, the shooting/death of the teenager in Columbus yesterday. People are already calling for the cop to be fired and thrown in jail, and the guy was put on leave.

While I agree that he should be put on leave (I think anyone who discharges their weapon and it results in a death should be put on leave until a full investigation is carried out) saying the guy should be fired is wild to me.

The situation to my knowledge:

Spoiler

From what I pieced together, CPD got a 911 call about someone attacking people with a knife outside of their residence. When police arrived, the girl that was killed was in the middle of attacking someone with a knife, then she turns around and starts attacking another woman against a car with the knife. Cop pulled his gun and shoots her several times.

The family says the girl called the police.

The whole thing sucks. I feel horrible for everyone. I feel bad for the family of the girl, I feel bad for everyone that's trying to digest this, and I feel bad for the cop. The guy was just trying to keep people safe. This was a situation that was rapidly developing and you could easily say there were several lives at risk.

EDIT: On the big upside (if you can really call it that) the protests last night were completely peaceful and there were no arrests or any damages.

Yeah, I watched the bodycam. The officer will likely not be charged. All that you've said is true. She had a knife and was about to stab the other person.  It's more a strange twist of fate than anything unfortunately.

Yeah man... It's wild. A few years ago at the university I work at, a guy drove his car into a crowd, jumped out and started swinging a knife.

The cop that shot that guy dead was praised as a hero. I'm not saying that these situations are 1 to 1, but they are very similiar: Cop rolls up to a developing scene, sees a person wielding a deadly weapon with the intent to do harm, uses lethal force to stop that person.

This way, let's say it's me saying something about you and you pin my tweet, but blur my name.  This way, it wasn't YOU directly sending people after me.  They have to make the effort to go find out who it is which means THEY had to do the work.

since I have your attention, would you mind telling me where and what that av of yours is?  I know you've had it for a long time but I don't think I've ever asked about it.

That's a good point, but I was referring to black folks getting killed and people treating every incidence of it as racism even when the killing is clearly justified, like the shooting in Columbus that happened yesterday.

But you're right, and I'll be interested to see how it goes. There's definitely a problem with the way policing is done but I think a lot of it is in response to social changes and I'm not really sure what the answer would be outside ofandating that every officer hired is at least a certain level of proficient at jiu jitsu or Judo.

A Market Economy humanely regulated by Socialism.

You can only have one or the other unless we're talking about fanfics.

You are mistaken, fundamentally.

You do not understand the fundamental concepts of which we are speaking.

Which is largely why I do not choose to engage in such discussions on here, anymore.

Just for your own illumination, however, I would strongly suggest that you research that of which you speak, as it can only benefit you.

Having said that, I will posit a beginning for your investigations.

You conflate economic systems with sociopolitical ones.

Are they the same? Are they intrinsically bound?

The answer is "No", to both.

There are no ifs, ands, or buts about this.

It is basic.

Please, I do sincerely encourage you to read up on it, and learn.

But engaging in debating false, inherently flawed, and fallacy driven argumentation for the sake of One-Ups-Manship on the web is exhausting, futile, and a complete waste of time better spent on learning.

This is very true, as is the other stuff you've posted in that post and a previous post. I just don't see the point of arguing with people though so I usually don't bother even posting a +1 like this most of the time.

Wait, so you decried economic slavery under "capitalism" as you understand it, and then when asked what you'd find preferable, you advocated for an economic system for which economic slavery is a cornerstone? And then had the nerve to serve up this turd of a post gaslighting me when you either have no idea of your own "fundamental concepts" or just haven't explained wtf you're talking about?

Bro, 420 was yesterday, put the bong down and sober up before you hit reply again. Friendly advice that you didn't ask for much like the type you tried to give me.

It's just a logo I made playing around in photoshop one day years past, flipping random symbols onto each other. I remember I had a symbol against pure black for a while, but later switched to a glass effect. I liked that so I stuck with it. But it's kinda been lost through time; I don't even have the original psd files for it anymore. Only images.

Now the fun begins after getting a tan/sun burnt. My back and shoulders are starting to peel. The bad side is my back has been itching like crazy the last 3 days. I just took a look at my back in the bathroom and it looks like a snake shedding. But my tan is 👍. Too bad no one will see it.

Also I didn’t do French toast like I wanted. I’m actually not at my house right now. I’m house sitting for some friends until Friday night. I’m mad at them though cause they barely left me anything. They didn’t even have eggs in their fridge.

So I just made a toasted bagel, made a quick garlic cream cheese spread for it then made some turkey bacon and called it good.

I also hate cooking in their kitchen cause their stove is horrendous and needs to be replaced. So I’m ordering pizza tonight.
