I remember in high school there was a GSA club and the school board made them change the meaning of "Q" in LGBTQ to "Questioning" because they still saw the term "Queer" as pejorative and opening themselves up to ridicule.

 

So now there is a sizeable amount of adults (me) learning today that it actually means Queer and I'm just glad I never open my mouth (pause) on topics like this lololol

 

It really seems like the wild west out there trying to understand it all.

Well, it's some old slang at this point... Monique's referring to the phrase "on the DL", which was short form of "on the down low", which meant dudes who were secretly gay.  In the late 90s this phrase seemed to have originated from R. Kelly's song "Keep it On the Down Low"....though he wasn't singing about that specifically... that song was just about having generally secret affair, if I recall.

 

...odd thing was that I've never heard the phrase used in reference to women being "secretly gay"....it's always used referring to men.... I guess this is because lesbianism is a slightly more acceptable thing....so women were less likely to be "in the closet" about that shit in the first place.

Sheeeeittttt, that first episode of Stranger Things 4 was great, imo... towards the end, that D&D session the crew had going on looked like so much fun; it's a real shame I missed out on all that when I was a kid.  As I've mentioned before, none of my friends or even casual acquaintances would've been really into it....at least in the southern part of the U.S. that definitely was *not* a thing most black kids were into.  Naturally I would have been the mage of the group for sure....in most videogame rpgs that's almost always my main thing.  Alternative choice would have been rogue/assassin.

 

*Winona Ryder is still very much bangable, btw.  I'd still pounce today with no question.  I first saw her in Beetlejuice and was smitten immediately.
